Ask yourself: What are the worst moments in Disco?
For me: when there is a pirate in a bomber, you are in the middle of nowhere in a big fat Hegemon or transport without any chance to "make" it and of course you did not in the end and die. When there was something that hurts you, you have lost everything and also can not play for 2 hours.
Let's be honest:
> You like the thrill "Yes! I narrowly did it!"?. Try to pirate a miner near a POB in a mining field. As you say that this is soooo hard, well the ultimative challenge for you!
> The tense "can I make it?" during pirate-miner interaction is just for one side, for the other side its just sad. The miner knows he has no chance the pirate knows he can kill him whenever he wants to when he tries to flee through the asteroid field with his big ship hitting every stone out there.
> Mining fields are static and well known to everybody. So you have a good chance some miner is filling a base. So you can get your thrill again!
> What does a pirate loose when not able to avoid the platforms or the miner makes it to the base? Nothing plus 2 minutes to log and fly there.
POBs made it a "safe grind" simulator. With no buzz, no happiness just for pirates who do not want to try hard and do not want to think about some in game solution to break that big big hindrance to get the miner. Miners are happy without having to fear to be just popped when a pirate approaches without any chance to flee or to defend himself.
To all the solo pirates, I can only say:
> let other people play like they prefer to even tough it is not your "lifestyle" and respect it
> get some people to assist you
> get a cloak
> pirate the haulers
> know your thruster and straving to avoid gunfire
> do more then just "money or die"
> remember that being a pirate is not ment as a free ride to get a kill or credits, you also have to "invest" something. And it's only pixels.
> create a miner and mine alone in a mining field
> If there is a possibility, why restrict it illogically then? If you really think restricting bases build somewhere for the whole logical thing to protect something worthfull or to protect your life, please delete POBs then because they make no sense.
> life is not easy, why should it be for a criminal?
Not every (= Most) mining ships that is correctly set up (or not) and flown (or not) can make it to a base. Even 15k against a single bomber or fighter pirate could be too far and after 5k the miner is dead.
Therefore: POBs need to be in mining fields for pure gameplay reasons. They create a whole lot of activity, they create interest, they create a challenge. There are many many player not wanting to be a pirate, not wanting to only fight, who just want to create something, to deliver something to work on something. Do not forget, disadvantage and exclude them!
