Sorry to be the blunt instrument here, mate, but you have to consider these issues:

1. Revenge killing is sanctionable.
2. This is an RP server. If you don't have an RP reason to hunt your target, then you're in deep... water. Two wrongs don't make one right.
3. If you have a trouble with someone for something wrong they did, in disrespect to the rules, take it to the admins. Don't go vigilante on your own, this will only get you into more trouble and harm your ingame reputation towards the rest of the players. Again, two wrongs don't make one right.
4. If you do have strong feelings about someone who's wronged you and want to make them suffer, you should consider re-evaluating the impact the game is having on you. If that feeling is only mild, still, there are other means to do it. Post numerous bounties on your disafections and there are a lot of people that will gladly make them suffer for you, even if you post RP rewards (doesn't have to be too generous). A lot of Mercs/BHG will follow RP only bounties (those not involving ludicrous sums of money). I know I do.

In a week of playing time this pretty much jades me from interaction in general. I'm not used to streamlined roleplay and I'll be glad to abide these situations in the future with a better understanding of how they work. Its not nessicarly the Discovery mods fault, but in general it seems like this game created a lot of allies and enemies but with standards and the server is making it formal that these actions are played out. Meanwhile we are supposed to run around taking pictures of people that don't play by these rules. I'm sorry but I just want to play a game and have fun, and I'm not in the least bothered by any form of conflict. I do appreciate and enjoy the RP values and maintain some form of character outside of just blasting everything.

Although I think its quite settled that I've become more and more attracted to the Xenos and thier way of thinking, mainly because I just don't fathom how anyone or anything can consider 'revenge' killing out of the way. If it provokes, its considered lethal for eternity until there is something to balance it. If you kill a trader NPC, the Police become hostile, etc. This is faction balance in action. You are suggesting that each player is to adhere to the faction bases the game has formed and not create thier own. Thats fine even though its very much IN character at times. I'm not even gunna get into the concepts of how bounty hunters are seemingly lawful ( I can't be a "Boba Fett"?) and merc are supposed to be a paid service yet every day I've seen them helping police and military take out 'known enemies' just because they are 'bad guys' on thier rep sheet. Perhaps they are paid to do it but then 10 minutes later I see them in a Pirate system just floating about like they are supposed to be there. And tsk tsk I can't shoot him cause its not in grounds! Why would they care if theres no money in it if you wanna get technical. Nevermind it was'nt for a price.. It was just for that line thats been drawn across factions. Again, there is so much grey area I see people floating in and out of already and I've not been here long at all.

I'll make my peace and find my place in the universe as some type of character and again please understand I mean no disrespect. Just I'm trying to do the right things, but with everyone going 15 directions with things it gets confusing. This isnt quite typical fantasy lore mind you and I find it refreshing, but more often than not what feels the right thing to do, is actually breaking a rule. I'll figure it out I guess...
