When the mobile city of motley ships and men had arrived in Omicron-Theta, it was a blast from the past. Back when Maverick had run his trade ship from over 30 years ago. The captain saw familiar nebula's and solars during his excursion from Liberty that he'd only dreamed of returning to. They crossed the system over to a nearby planet with a small station housing no more than the number of crew upon the Cincinnati, And they take up a formation like a small makeshift City. Maverick had boarded the Sovereign and had a chat with Hunt and was put into a position where he had to take command. Just as he would order men on the ship, he was taking charge and control of more than the 200 populous. He was given command of over 900 easily and he commanded them well.
Hunt had walked away. For what reason and why? To confirm a superstition that Maverick could lead not only his crew, but a multiple payload of such? Did Hunt honestly see it in Maverick, or was it that Hunt was starting to crumble under his own mistakes and seeing that he had bit off more than he could chew and couldn't take the responsibility? Regardless of the outcome. Maverick had made a choice. After Hunt had spoken to Maverick about being Director of Field Operations,, he was given an order by Hunt himself. Tear down the Revenge, Montante class ship and use it's paneling to pull the Corvo back together and the old Scylla they had. Having an old Repair ship aboard the Cincinnati, a ship that he'd not piloted in over 20 years, Maverick took the challenge.
Maverick and Sylus had left the Sovereign to return to the Nati's bridge. Upon arrival, a comm opens with a message telling the captain and crew that they are given the go to drop off the crew as Maverick had suggested and that the rest were going with them somewhere. Either way, Maverick and Sylus round up the crew. Start up procedures began and Maverick picks up a mic checking in with the decks. Deck one, go. Deck two, go. Deck 3... One by one the Captain checks in with the family for personnel. The men who were supposed to be on the Cincinnati from the station had all been fixated amongst the holds and bunks of the crew within the ship. The Cincinnati comes to flight ready and unhinges itself from the Sovereign the Montante is seen pulling up with each other starboard of the Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati and the Revenge had flown over to the Freeport, mooring to the side just above the biodome located below. The bay extends as they talk to the people aboard the Zoner installation. They offloaded pallets and boxes of Food rations, Water, Oxygen, and persons from the Navarro for the installation and tossed in a generous amount of credits amongst them to help sustain the new populous momentarily until the Initiative had needed them. Once completed over the next few hours of unloading and settling in, The Cincinnati had returned to the space by the planet with the Revenge. Maverick looked at Sylus and nodded. "Let's go tear up a gunboat."
Maverick walked down the chambers and passageways of the Cincinnati to the flight deck where the old Repair ship had been sitting since the last time they needed it on Juneau. This ship was regularly maintenanced and seemed like the only operational ship within the armada's fleet. Maverick sat inside. Remembering the controls one by one. Slowly regaining the memory of his days on the shipyards bays. Maverick nodded to the controlman on the deck, as gravity was lifted, engines sparked and fired online and the bay of the Cincinnati dropped out below him. Into space he went.
Maverick had flown over to the Revenge. The captain within started helping dismantle it from the inside to assist. Once he was done, the captain had put on his suit and went into space, retrieved by the repair ship's small cockpit just big enough for two people.
While Maverick had carefully taken apart the Revenge, it's plating was grabbed by the arms and placed into the hold of the tiny repairship. He carefully shot at the hull, grabbing it, welding, tearing it piece by piece.
He sprayed and shot it taking chunk after chunk off the ship until there was literally nothing left.
The little Repair ship's hull was filled to the gills with the Montante's metal. He had returned the Cincinnati, whose bay door opened and the ship was docked. Returning to the bridge, Maverick and crew fly over to the small fleet. They wait. And they wait. Few days went past and the Artemis finally returns from the defense of New London. It was shaken. But the Artemis was still intact. The Captain fills in the Artemis, letting him know the current plans.
Maverick again proceeds to the flightdeck, hopping in the little scrapper itself with the cargo full of metals and alloys, entering space and heading over to the Corvo. Maverick sat there a little bit. Looking at the Profile of the Corvo. It reminded him that it looked alien. Like a Nomad itself.
Spooked out momentarily of the shape of the ship, Maverick proceeded to work on the ship.
Starting at the front of the ship....
Working his way back to the engines.
The captain had requested to do a weapons test. Shields test. Engines test. The whole 9 yards. Giving the rundown to make sure the Corvo was up to speed with it's fix up. Giving the ship a much needed overhaul. Maverick pivoted and slid the ship across the Corvo's frame, stopping at the turrets and shield modulator. Making sure they are all in order and optimal. He stopped at the engines, repairing the thruster plating and focus array's. Restoring the ship to it's complete stature after it's fight with Nomads in New London.
"She was pretty beaten up." Maverick said. "First time it's seen action. Ever. And it's first fight was a defense of a capital planet of Bretonia." the Artemis' captain replied. "And I was here the entire time twiddling my thumbs, not able to do anything." he said. Maverick went into detail about what had happened to the Cincinnati's core and engine problems. Both the captain's told stories about themselves, The Captain of the Artemis telling Maverick about the events in New London and Newcastle. Maverick going on about stories of him during the Nomad war 20 plus years prior to. "The name's Maverick. Bet you'd want to know." He said. "Ivan. Most everyone calls me Monty though." Ivan replied. Maverick had made his first friend after the Cincinnati Fled Liberty. "You should come aboard. Come meet the family." Maverick said. Monty smiled from the control room in the Artemis waving his hand as Maverick passed the front with the tiny craft. Mav finished the repairs and returned the dinky two armed ship to the Cincinnati's hold with the Artemis sitting near by.
The Overlord and the Corvo flew back to the little colony. Taking their spots and positions. Extending their bays and mooring points to the Sovereign. The crew had been offloaded. The Revenge dismantled. And the Corvo repaired to proficiency. Today was a successful day. The captain and Sylus left the bridge as the Crew began shutdown protocol, keeping only the weapons online as the two entered back onto the Sovereign to report to Hunt.
