Our PvP behaviour has not been excellent recently, to say the least. I'd be inclined to also point fingers myself at others as well however. Undeniably, ganking at this point is pretty much an integral part of the game. You can't run from it and you can't hide from it either. You can only try to fend it off for as long as you can before you succumb to the pressure of it.
The greatest difficulty I've found is trying to reach a medium between not only what your members want, but what the other side wants as well. As @sindroms once said, what is considered "fun and fair" for one side isn't necessarily the same for the other. This applies to all sides within an engagement.
I often have people on my side getting very infuriated and upset when we stand down our guns to stop piling stuff on an enemy, and likewise when the other side gets upset when we do put more stuff on a target. It's hard to strike that balance, and if I'm honestly it's a mammoth task to ensure 100% of both sides walk away happy from a pvp encounter.
Regardless of that, I'd like to ask the community to start PMing Core| ships before any engagement begins to ensure both sides can have as much fun as possible (/fm Core| is your best friend). It's a bit ooRP, however I think adding an extra layer of ooRP over every single engagement will do well to steer any potential tears either side may have at the end. And we'll also look to PM others as well, just to see if we can meet their requirements for a fun encounter whilst balancing them alongside our own.
My members will abide by a code to try to respect the wishes of whoever on the other side reaches out to ensure fair play and fun. I'll be tough on those within the faction that do not. I'll hope that people on the other side will hold their end of the bargain in maintaining fair play. It's a mutual agreement. It needs to work both ways to succeed.
At the end of the day, don't we all just want to ensure as much people as possible log off with smiles on their faces, pleased with the pvp encounter they've just had? Please, if you will, assist me as we try to ensure encounters are fun for everyone.
Of course, unless one of the recent staff appointments is an indication, DiscoveryGC hasn't had its second coming of Jesus Christ yet so we won't be able to atone for all the upset we've caused within the past several weeks. I hope that the community can put aside any of its recent pvp grievances with Core| as we cooperate to create better PvP standards in the Edge Worlds. Simply, before the war PM Core|.
I can already hear some of you saying those last few paragraphs are nothing but 'classic', wordy, Lythrilux bollocks mixed with apologies. I'm going to hold myself to this post very closely and prove you wrong. If not, there's no point in Core| if it doesn't leave players with a sense of enjoyment after each encounter. And I'm going to seriously consider disbandment if things don't improve on our end (there's other projects I could dedicate my time to).
