battlecruisers have a slightly higher armour than cruisers - but only destroyer / cruiser shields. they have a powercore that is allmost twice as large as normal cruisers giving them the ability to chainfire regular turrets while recharging. - their recharge rate is extremely high - and battlecruisers are quite capable of taking down battleships cause they can use the much more energy efficient light mortars. ( for example 2 battleship infernos + 4 light mortars )
the two lvl10 turrets are quite a feature, but its mostly the large powercore that makes these ships strong. - its as if a the large battleships did not have 7million power, but maybe 14 million. - that means they could fire 4 heavy mortars at ones.
so, as a battlecruiser, you try to take advantage of your heavy firepower, while at the same time staying at maximum range. - battlecruisers are still like only half the size of battleships and a lot more agile, they recharge energy a lot faster than battleships. - they are not as good against bombers though.... bombers are as efficient against battlecruisers as they are against normal cruisers, cause there its only the defense that counts. - and in the defense department, battlecruisers are as weak as any other cruiser.
not all BCs have thrusters. - the albatross and the BHG BC have thrusters, the liberty assault frigate has none. a good tactic is to take advantage of the thrusters... if you have them... you can E-kill and change direction... a feature a battleship cannot rely on. - that makes it possible for the BC to E-kill, turn and fire while at the same time increasing the distance towards a battleship.
the liberty assault frigate trades the thruster off for some additional armour. - its a give and take. - i guess if you like to have a thruster on your ship, you ll have to say good bye to some of the armour. - but its worth it.
