Scouts in the Kepler system randomly ceased communications and connection to the Uplink at 17/12/823 for unknown reasons, not long after that, weird sources of energy was coming from the system. Due to this, we set off to investigate what exactly was going on. We arrived there...
It happened again.
An unstable anomaly was detected in the middle of these shifting clouds, it's unknown whether these anomaly opening were random or created by a peculiar type of people that we all know too well. However, the readings were similar to the experiment we made back in New London, though, in this one, radiation was more intensive. The Eidolon Wraith proceeded through with the Arktos to explore the other end whilst veiled with our cloaks.
We were brought to an unknown location which seemed to border Rheinland, a possible exploration Outpost dating back thirty years. Two Naval Vessels were detected on scene - standing guard. Looking further, by initial inspection, the system appeared more or less empty, excluding a station present that went by the name of Morostrenza Data Lockup.
Scans were initiated, discovering that the Staiton is derelict, abandoned, but the atmosphere was contaminated. We attempted to get close to get a survey of the station, but we had sudden guests. Nomads.
We broke the veil and engaged the hostile warforms. They were shortly disposed of after the Navy vessels came in to engage. Unfortunately, one of their vessels managed to tractor valuable goods and retreated out of the system through the unstable anomaly.
Now that the area was clear, we proceeded on with the survey. Drone probes indicated some form of leakage coming from the storage depots. They began to investigate, sampling the leak. It was Azurite Gas. A massive cache of Azurite was found in the storage section of the station, though, it was deteriorating the condition of the station. Due to the nature of the Gas, some samples were obtained, and the drones returned to the docking bay of the Wraith.
We pulled out back to the Unstable Anomaly as the gravitational waves seemed to be shifting again - indicating it was 'resetting' back to it's natural state of non-existance. Upon leaving, the Station seemed to have fallen apart, the reactor - by estimation - must have reacted with the Azurite, causing it to fail. It was only luck that we managed to gain information from the scenario before its failure.
Returning to Ames, the Anomaly had entirely collapsed on the other end, sealing up. Though, a small attack squad of Nomads came to engage, firing biological... orbs of energy at our ships. Of course, they were eliminated.
All in all, the scouting slash stealth mission was more or less a success. A shame we didn't get to download data from the stations computers.
One last thing to note was the constant presence of some EM-emissions, which turned out to be the Apahanta. Very curious as to why they weren't assisting in the defence against the hostile Nomads - even if they were protecting or trying to seize the cache, they... merely avoided it. Maren claims that they were elsewhere, watching a singular Nomad float around. Upon approach of Vertiga's ship, he seemed to be constantly retreating, cloaking away. I had a glimpse second to scan their goods, their ship seemed to contain various scientific goods, and a singular blob of burnt Nomadic biology.
They're too suspicious for my liking, they started off as... 'Fighting' them - but now... they wish for peace? I gave them wisdom, and they gave me arrogance. They do not believe in the concept of 'Us vs Them' when it comes to the main Hive - a factual perception to their coded biology, and that concerns me.
We have yet to learn about the nature of these anomalies, but perhaps these connections are the reason why the "Cultists" desire to close them - though interestingly, they failed to show up. Perhaps they're possibly afraid of the connections opening up to where-ever their home may be, or that these links will only boost the other societies of Sirius.
