Name:Derek Smith Rank:Fleet Admiral Subject:Patrol through California/New York/Pennsylvania
Today we started out for a patrol as well as a field test of the newly arrived chainguns. Taking off from Hesperia alongside Lord Commander Locklear, Fleet Captain With, Lieutenant Chase, Initiate Oh and Steve Athanas. When we held the New York gate we nearly catched an unsuspecting Rogue jumping in, but his cloaking device saved him today. Not much later a second Rogue by the name of Diana Daymarova appeared.
The Lord Commander tried to make joining the Legion appealing to her but it seems she did not take interest in fighting for a cause.
I took care of her, testing the new gun in the process.
After her ship suffered a decompression I moved to the rest of the wing who were attacking a battlecruiser. When I arrived they had ceased fire already and tried to talk to the captain, but he seemed paralyzed by the shock of the attack and did not talk with too much sense.
We left the ship floating damaged, the Navy can take care of repairing that mess.
After this we moved to Pennsylvania where we met the LNS Phoenix of the 5th fleet. Long story short hostilities broke out and we shot it down.
While patroling the mining fields later we stumbled upon another Rogue, this time in a Pelican. Its big talking ceased soon and it chose to run, again with support of a cloaking device.
We stayed in the system waiting for his inevitable return. He was sighted near Bethlehem where we got him once again, this time making sure he can not run again.
After his ships remains floated away we lingered a bit longer at Bethelehem, while the Lord Commander had an engaged talk with With and Chase I used the time to enjoy the view.
After we were sure no more dangers were roaming the system we left to Hesperia.
To the field test of the chaingun,
It is a weapon neither designed for accuracy, nor for heavy damage. Nevertheless it is a reliable source of damage when fired in a joust even though the difference is neglectable when your opponent does not evade most of your other guns.
When utilized while outturning your opponent its arcs are not wide enough to compete with those of the other guns, so it is more a weapon for face to face combat or chasing targets.
All in all a solid weapon for recruits or those who dont mind to lean back a bit in fights.
