Nobody says you should force fair fights, silly. Just that you don't join an already existing gank since there's no reason to other than the small chance of getting the blue message, which I guess feeds some people's egos. The intentional overexaggeration with the 1v1 example doesn't make any sense to me. Flat out demanding fair fights is stupid, but if there's an opportunity for a fight to be fair or to not be fair, why not at least try and make it fair. That doesn't mean asking for duels in a 30 man groupfight, but for example if you see the enemy side side losing ships drastically, consider pulling people out on your end. Small things like that would make fights much healthier overall.
That's another problem - It's very hard to get an actually balanced fight in a Discovery PvP in terms of numbers, skill and luck because of the snowball effect. As soon as one side gets a small lead, they can usually turn it into a greater one and one side steamrolls the other pretty fast. Only rarely do you see for example a 10v10 snubfight ending in a 2v0, and more often you see something like an 8v0.
I don't know why you're bringing up posts from ages ago, obviously I've had a change of heart since my days of being ganked repeatedly in Coronado and Magellan as seen there.
The "overexaggeration" with the 1v1s isn't an overexaggeration at all. What do you think people are pushing for in this thread? What do you think people want at the end of a snub brawl, what do lone raiding battleships complain about? It's stupid, yes, I agree that if you run into a lone snub during a raid, giving it a 1v1 then isn't all harmful. Yes, I think that throwing equally skilled players on each side makes fights more challenging and fun. Do I think that the final survivor should be allowed a 1v1? Or a person in the middle of the fight? No, that's stupid.
