I've spent half year trying to be good in snub combat. I only learnt how not to die as fast as I used to.
Tbh it doesn't take nearly that long, a big part that everyone always glosses over is that you have to actually enjoy freelancer's combat. The people who are good at the game are the people who enjoy playing the game, and that's not necessarily a result of their skill. In fact I think it's quite the opposite; that skill is a product of appreciating FL's mechanics.
I loved snub brawls long before I was actually good in a fighter, so it prompted me to get good at them. If you enjoy flying a cap, then you'll probably end up getting good at it. So on and so forth.
