Its a difficult project Xing, even without the rude critics. No one has yet created a carrier from scratch for Discovery. So the discussion about launch tubes needs to be fleshed out more. Its important to remember that the only reason we could role play the existing Liberty Carrier as such was because it has that blue bay in the middle where presumably it would launch its fighters. So you are right to attempt some sort of launching device on this ship, but since this is the first it will lead the way for the other Carriers down the road so it needs to be good.
So now we have the opportunity to reinvent the wheel. Or, to reinvent the space carrier. I can only pick at ideas that have been forwarded as I can't think of a better way to do build it:
-launching tubes: maybe too practical or utilitarian a design for Freelancer. Freelancer goes for stylization before it goes for realism. So no matter how effective launch tubes would be at dispersing fighters, that should only be a secondary consideration to how the ship looks.
-a ship that looks like a WW2 aircraft carrier. Yes, the Liberty Dreadnaught has the bow of a ww2 Destroyer coupled with a bridge section to match, but that is not the only stylization found in Liberty hardware. And it should look at least a bit like a spaceship rather than a floating flat top waiting to bring its P-47s home.
Liberty's style in the game- 1)afore mentioned hatchet bow, 2)Integration of old American Symbolism-such as the eagle feathers on the Avenger fighter, 3)Navy Grey skinning (another WW2 similarity.)
With that in mind here are my suggestions
-redo the launch tubes. They look like huge engine pods strapped to the sides. Or worse, they look like huge planet killing guns, something out of Transformers... Did any of you ever play Wing Commander? If so, do you remember what the original Tiger Claw looked like? It had a landing strip running down its center like the mouth of a huge whale, covered by ship hull on all sides. Maybe we could make the landing strip internal like that some how...or even make it a 'fly through' strip where you can see through it to the other side. That gives the ship a bit more of the feel of a WW2 American aircraft carrier (A Liberty stylization,) but at the same time looking like a space ship.
The ship needs a more prominent bridge section too look more Liberty. Yours gets lost in the business of the ship's midsection.
The great big button in the aft section...looks like a pinball machine button to me-all you'd have to do is skin it red. It also makes the ship look like a mega tanker--sort of EXXON Valdez-ish.
