Righto, so- onto the actual questions:

The issue isn't that we aren't fond of PVP. Banish the thought of that now.
PVP isn't inherently an RP activity but when given the proper RP context and allowed to happen naturally in the playfield or with the structure of an event, it's the absolute bread and butter of the mod. If my and Tomas' bank characters current destitution are any indication, not-liking PVP is the last thing on the menu. Over the course of Amalfi's lifetime, we've setup a small fleet of shared capitals and snubs for faction members to be able to involve themselves in both RP and fights alike over a wide area within the confines of our ZOI.
The problem we have is when the RP context for a given fight is so flimsy as to basically not exist. 99 times out of 100, this is someone just trying to blue-farm. Home-system raids fall flat at the first hurdle here in particular, given that the only reason their ships aren't vaporized upon reaching the respective hostile faction's borders is because of gameplay reasons. Lore-wise, all factions run regular patrols throughout their territory with snubs and larger patrol ships when available, and all of these would be the defensive screen that'd catch random incursions by other factions. This is the same reason why random zoner whales flying into Zone 21 for example feels so moronicly stupid- it's a ludo-narrative dissonance issue: clearly there should be some ships stopping these things from happening, but because there aren't enough players in the community to patrol everywhere constantly- failing to respect that facet of the RP environment is something we and quite a number of others consider a faux pas.
It wouldn't make sense for the Unioners to be in Alaska, so don't do it.
It wouldn't make sense for the Mollies to be in darlington's atmosphere, so don't do it.
etc, you get the picture.
Apply basic common sense as to where ships should realistically be able to go, and suddenly things tend to make a lot more sense inRP. Shockingly; RP is tantamount in an RP server, and the violation of that isn't something we feel is worth our time. It is the responsibility of faction leaders, and faction members to roughly know the estimated capabilities of their respective factions, and act according to that effective strength. Failure to do this is seen as powergaming as far as we're concerned, so we don't feel the need to involved ourselves in other people's power fantasies. No faction has the ability to realistically invade another group's capital home-systems without a significant push, which would mean an event, and actual effort on the part of the attackers, which most of them aren't willing to put in.
Not to stoke the fires of a situation only somewhat involving a handful of individuals I already have on my ignore list: If we had been mining, running cargo, or pirating in Beta at the time when that little kerfuffle with the Corsair players had happened, we would've been absolutely 100% fine interacting with the individuals involved. It makes sense for a corsair wing to manage to find their way into Beta given its location and geography, the RP would support it so that would've been satisfied. No issue there. That however isn't what happened here, which is something I'm not certain you may be able to pick out of the absolutely massive walls of aspersions that make up 4/5ths of the first few pages of this thread's replies.
Taenith if you want the full story, I'll recount it to ya with logs and paste-bin records of it all so It dosen't come off as one-sided but I think it's about time we all put this incident to bed. It's done, it's over, and both parties have apologized to eachother and more or less moved on at this point. No further sense in digging it up again.
Finally: there was one other individual that posed another question to the OP that got invis'd for some reason. I'll have to paraphrase seeing as I obviously don't have it in front of me but the question raised involved how precisely AD would be enacting the Espionage-line in our goals section. Again, I don't remember who it was or what the exact phrasing was but it seemed a valid enough question to me to deserve an answer:
Long story short: thusfar it's largely background things done in RP posts and in-game that place Amalfi-aligned individuals in positions while not clearly being labeled Amalfi individuals. Every instance of this is done with the informed consent of the other players involved so as to avoid powergaming; basically spying on people and factions with the player's or leader's ooRP consent. If you're worried someone in your faction is working for us: don't be. If there was one, you'd know about it already.
Hope that clears some things up for the two of you. If not, feel free to continue asking questions, I'll happily reply to as many as you lot can regarding our writeup as you'd like.
Can't wait to see how quickly this gets derailed again.
