If Bretonia wins - everything goes back to what it was before. Gallia becomes an isolated house ruled by either the current government or Council, pretty much making it as relevant as in 4.85. The other side (Council or GRN) vanishes or loses a lot of assets, doesn't matter much because the house would essentially be dead just like back in the day. You'd see a few corporations powertrading at best and that's the extent of it. Bretonia goes to what it was before, with Leeds, Edinburgh and Newcastle recaptured, Liberty goes to what it was before with California, Magellan and Cortez secured. Small factions like Gaians and Mollys probably go back to shooting Bretonia, same as they always have. Everything becomes stale and unexciting. The only region that would benefit from it gameplay-wise would be Taus, who'd experience the return of Bretonia as well as removal of GRN, making it no man's land again.
If Gallia wins, first we have to define what a "win" is. Make no mistake, Gallia already won relative to Bretonia. Bretonia's lands have been in a full scale war for almost 10 years, with multiple systems occupied, trade routes blocked, embargoes present and a whole planet, the heart of its industry, conquered. Even if Bretonia somehow wins, it's merely pushing back the aggressors. Gallia made a permanent stamp in Sirius' history, and it's quite a big one.
As for actual assets, I'd love to see Gallia taking over New London and Cambridge with Corsairs, then suing for peace and leaving Bretonia as a remnant house with Omega-49 (Bretonia would fully annex Gran Canaria in that case), Poole and Omega-3 as their core systems and Dublin with Omega-47 as relevant neighboring systems. I wouldn't even be opposed to a new jumphole being discovered leading to a system Bretonia will inhabit in the future, just like Order was saved when Toledo got destroyed (Omicron Mu was invented). They'd basically migrate and reorganize to conquer lost assets back one day. They would be forced to make treaties with the Red Alliance to survive, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because it'd give them freedom and time to gather strength.
Then there's the question of inner Gallic conflicts - if Council wins and overthrows the government, Gallia (GRN) would in a way become Bretonia, and Council would become only Gallia with a little bit of Taus. Taus would be the new conflict zone between the two as GRN is now exiled in Bretonia (not really "exiled" since they own the place).
And finally Liberty - I don't see anything interesting happening with it. Not like anything ever will happen because of plot armor, they'd likely take back California with Magellan and Cortez up for debate. If they do win though, it'll be a huge eyes roll to majority of community, as Liberty happens to win *yet* another war with basically no losses. No, losing a border station doesn't count. Even when they were waging wars against 2 houses at opposite fronts (Gallia and Rheinland), they were fine and actually winning against Rheinland, so I don't expect Liberty to lose anything in this war.
All I'm trying to get at is that it'd be something cool and unique. Bretonia still lives, has a new place to be at. Gallia is exiled in Bretonia. Council takes control inside Gallia. That's my ideal scenario.
Yeah basically I agree with this. I feel like we're at a critical point where the direction and setting of the mod could change drastically. We've been at point like this before, each time the (previous) Devs opted fot the boring outcomes that maintain the status quo.
