I need to report a worrisome encounter today. While awaiting further directives with our research mission and observing Quillan's space, "Sorbonne" today was hailed by a "Lucullus" liner accompanied by two Bretonian strikecrafts. A peculiar sight, but what one cannot see nowadays in Gallia, especially in the bordering system of Languedoc.
Typical greetings rapidly were followed with quite assertive inquiry of what we were and who we worked for. Obviously, such hubris and tone could not mean we encounter a possible business partner but likely some criminals. After all, the ship was giving Maquis ID. Yet, we initially did not pay much attention to it. After all, the Second Gallic War is over. After our decline to comply with the verbal demands of the vessel, it attacked us right in the orbit of Quillan. "Sorbonne" being an armoured research vessel procured from zoners to work in the most hazardous parts of space was able to fend off the attacker, inflicting significant damage. Obviously, further encounters of the vessels of the same affiliation do not bring us any good, so be careful. I herein attack the logs of the encounter.
[25.01.2020 03:07:43] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Well well.
[25.01.2020 03:08:21] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: Bonjour
[25.01.2020 03:08:30] N|-Adam,Weaver: Adam: Saluton
[25.01.2020 03:08:58] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Identify yourself vessel.
[25.01.2020 03:09:21] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: Research Vessel "Sorbonne" of Montluc Advanced Industries. And you, Monsieur?
[25.01.2020 03:09:57] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Montluc you said?
[25.01.2020 03:10:15] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: oui, for short MAE.
[25.01.2020 03:10:27] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Who do you work for?
[25.01.2020 03:10:36] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: And who is MAE serving?
[25.01.2020 03:11:01] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: until you respect the courtesy of identifying yourself, Monsieur, I reserve the right not to disclose any information
[25.01.2020 03:11:13] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: I am the one doing questions here.
[25.01.2020 03:11:30] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: And unless you answer them, i'm afraid you'll get in big trouble, monsieur.
[25.01.2020 03:11:36] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: obviously, this attitude would not get you far, Monsieur.
[25.01.2020 03:11:45] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: so I bid you good day
[25.01.2020 03:12:15] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Alright, let's do it this way then.
[25.01.2020 03:12:31] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: I will give you ten seconds to tell me who the fuck you are and who are you working for.
[25.01.2020 03:13:03] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: if you don't mind, I have the work to do. And be smart to learn some manners
[25.01.2020 03:13:08] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: au revoir
[25.01.2020 03:13:15] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Time is over.
[25.01.2020 03:13:29] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: You better run.
[25.01.2020 03:13:55] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: in planetary orbit? I don't think so. Seems like you are of those criminals
[25.01.2020 03:13:56] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Crew, open fire on that vessel.
[25.01.2020 03:14:27] N|-Adam,Weaver: Adam: Oi Devin, ya ever heard of MAE before?
[25.01.2020 03:14:45] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Can't say I am familiar.
[25.01.2020 03:16:03] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: ....
[25.01.2020 03:16:17] N|-Devin:Blackwood: I feel like that could have gone better.
[25.01.2020 03:16:19] [VC]Mont.Mouchet: G: Worry not, maggot, next time we'll have more fun.
[25.01.2020 03:16:32] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: criminals. Learn manners and you would get your answers peacefully
[25.01.2020 03:16:43] N|-Adam,Weaver: Adam: I think it went rather well.
[25.01.2020 03:16:51] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: attacking is definately not the way to get your questions answered
This, however, is not the end of the interesting part as two Bretonians who cautiously were watching the fight politely asked to have a word. The two as it appeared did not represented official Bretonia or its corporations but rather some environmentalists. Perhaps, something relating to the Gaians that we heard of during the war, but not necessarily. The discussion pertained to our stance on Leeds, Bordeaux, and attitude to the Enclave. Obviously, I was not in position to discuss such matters. They seemed to be interested in contacting our leadership, so I received the digital address and will relay it herein in the logs for Monsieur Montluc and the corporate leadership to decide thereupon.
[25.01.2020 03:17:15] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Giroux, wait, I would like a word with you.
[25.01.2020 03:17:25] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: I hope, Messiers Bretonians, you are not affiliated with those criminals?
[25.01.2020 03:17:36] N|-Devin:Blackwood: My name is Devin Blackwood, I represent the Gaian Nemesis.
[25.01.2020 03:17:41] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: if not, and if your manners are adequate - I have no issue with you
[25.01.2020 03:18:03] N|-Devin:Blackwood: We mean you no harm, as opposed to our more brutish neighbor.
[25.01.2020 03:18:15] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: then I see no harm having a chat
[25.01.2020 03:18:28] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: we are in the process of orbital scanning, so should be no issue
[25.01.2020 03:18:48] N|-Devin:Blackwood: I assume you are aware of the tragedy of Planet Gaia? Or as you may know it better Bordeaux?
[25.01.2020 03:19:21] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: tragedy? Well, from some perspective it is. Leeds is more of a tragedy, in my opinion
[25.01.2020 03:19:35] MAE|"Sorbonne": Grioux: but oui, I am well aware of the situation on Bordoux
[25.01.2020 03:20:07] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Leeds....Leeds was a nightmare, a future that we in the Gaians predicted would occur if Humanity kept abusing nature.
[25.01.2020 03:20:41] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: Leeds was more of a military-caused tragedy, rather than environmental
[25.01.2020 03:20:46] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Bordoux is currently under siege, prior to the Enclave's landing on the planet it was a paradise akin to the Garden of Edin.
[25.01.2020 03:20:53] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: although, Bretonians really made a mess of that world
[25.01.2020 03:21:09] N|-Devin:Blackwood: You are correct in that aspect.
[25.01.2020 03:21:24] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: Gaia was a piece of cake for sure. I can see why the Royal Forces decided to fortify there
[25.01.2020 03:21:56] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: although, I still don't understand why so many efforts were put into it when we have a barely settled Quillan right
[25.01.2020 03:21:59] .. here*
[25.01.2020 03:22:03] MAE|"Sorbonne": here
[25.01.2020 03:22:19] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Well, daily, millions of species are being hunted into extinction. Entire swaths of forests burned to the ground, oceans and
[25.01.2020 03:22:27] N|-Devin:Blackwood: skies being polluted with toxins.
[25.01.2020 03:23:06] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: my estimation would be different. The planet now houses a relativelyt small population
[25.01.2020 03:23:15] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: while being quite a big terrestrial planet
[25.01.2020 03:23:28] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Tell me, what is your perspective on the Enclave?
[25.01.2020 03:23:32] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: certainly, there is a trace of human activity, but not that significant for the planet-wise ecosystem
[25.01.2020 03:23:33] N|-Devin:Blackwood: On what they did to Leeds?
[25.01.2020 03:24:01] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: I am a scientist, I do not care much about the politics. Leeds, however, was a tragedy
[25.01.2020 03:24:17] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: unnecessary move for sure. Don't know why the command gave the order
[25.01.2020 03:24:27] N|-Devin:Blackwood: As a scientist surely you must understand how important it is to preserve natural balance.
[25.01.2020 03:24:48] N|-Adam,Weaver: Leeds while already a damaged world was my home, it is more than a tragedy...
[25.01.2020 03:24:49] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: the general population still wonders, as it had no strategic value, and led to the massacre of billions
[25.01.2020 03:25:18] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Such a gem as Gaia should have been preserved, studied from afar, and revered in all its majesty.
[25.01.2020 03:25:29] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: as a scientist, I observe that humans enhance their lives. Surely, there is a way for humans to live on Bordoux
[25.01.2020 03:25:34] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: without harming it
[25.01.2020 03:25:49] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: after all, it is just a matter of ecology and how humans fit into it
[25.01.2020 03:25:59] N|-Devin:Blackwood: I do agree, if humans must live planetside we must do it in peace and harmony with nature.
[25.01.2020 03:26:33] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: nowadays, we pay too much for planetforming while it is easier not to change the planet but to adapt to it
[25.01.2020 03:26:48] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: unfortunately, that was not the case during Gallic terraforming endeavour
[25.01.2020 03:27:16] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: for now, though, Gallia is unlikely to engage in any terraforming - too expensive, and plenty of living space existing
[25.01.2020 03:27:29] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: well, maybe except for Dauphine, but that is a political matter
[25.01.2020 03:27:50] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Words I can get behind, that moronic EFL insists on attempting Terraforming, the fools tried to continue Planetforms work on
[25.01.2020 03:27:54] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Harris.
[25.01.2020 03:28:01] N|-Devin:Blackwood: It cost them billions.
[25.01.2020 03:28:19] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: Harris is a mining world in Taus. I totally cannot understand the value of terraforming it
[25.01.2020 03:28:30] N|-Devin:Blackwood: No,
[25.01.2020 03:28:38] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: it should be just mined as it is. The investment is not worth it
[25.01.2020 03:28:59] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: but i guess it was a political matter as well, to set the foothold in Taus
[25.01.2020 03:29:20] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Terraforming is sacrilegious to nature.
[25.01.2020 03:29:25] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: now it is Crayterian, and I am sure you can relax as Crayter will never have the money to continue such an expensive
[25.01.2020 03:29:31] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: project
[25.01.2020 03:29:49] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: terraforming is just a tool, there is nothing sacriligeous about it, mon amie
[25.01.2020 03:29:56] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: it is the way it is done
[25.01.2020 03:30:00] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: and where
[25.01.2020 03:30:03] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Good, maybe the planet may be able to return to its way prior to Planetform and EFL's meddling.
[25.01.2020 03:30:18] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: if we turn a lifeless piece of rock into a blossoming garden - I see no issue with that
[25.01.2020 03:30:36] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: if we, however, destroy an already existing ecosystem - that is indeed troublesome
[25.01.2020 03:30:41] N|-Devin:Blackwood: You see, I have no issue with the idea of building structures, BioDomes, to allow humanity to live on otherwise inhospitable
[25.01.2020 03:30:43] N|-Devin:Blackwood: planets.
[25.01.2020 03:30:52] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: we can learn so much from alien ecosystems!
[25.01.2020 03:31:11] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Indeed, but why must we destroy it to learn from it?
[25.01.2020 03:31:35] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: if we are talking about just a few samples, then it is a minor sacrifice for greater progress
[25.01.2020 03:32:00] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: for the whole history of mankind we used to test various theories on animals and ourselves
[25.01.2020 03:32:10] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: not necessary in a violent way
[25.01.2020 03:32:26] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: now, though, we do pocess science advanced enough not to recourse to those barbaric ways of old
[25.01.2020 03:32:44] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: so in principle, I agree - no need to destroy if we can find another way
[25.01.2020 03:32:54] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: science has its ethical principles too
[25.01.2020 03:32:55] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Yet we anihilated a planet....
[25.01.2020 03:33:06] N|-Devin:Blackwood: ...because we could.
[25.01.2020 03:33:22] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: if you refer to Leeds - that is not about science and ethics, but amout warmongers and their ambitions
[25.01.2020 03:33:29] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: or whatever led to that decision
[25.01.2020 03:34:14] N|-Devin:Blackwood: I have reason to wish to speak to your superiors, please have them contact me if they are interested. Inspite of our
[25.01.2020 03:34:29] N|-Devin:Blackwood: differences we may be of some use to one another.
[25.01.2020 03:34:34] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: your topic of interest is curious. You are some sort of environemtnal scientists from Bretonia?
[25.01.2020 03:34:42] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Indeed,
[25.01.2020 03:34:58] Death: BAF|Ens.Isaak.Heinrich suffered a self-administered loadout error (Mine).
[25.01.2020 03:35:05] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: would consider as a gentle invitation, Monsieur. Please, relay us your digital address and I will convey it to my
[25.01.2020 03:35:08] MAE|"Sorbonne": superiors
[25.01.2020 03:35:56] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: you should note, though, that my boss is not very fond of official Bretonia. But since you are scientists,
[25.01.2020 03:35:59] MAE|"Sorbonne": I see no issue there
[25.01.2020 03:36:21] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: at any rate, I will see it to the desk of the Baron himself. He deals with foreign relations and that kind of matters
[25.01.2020 03:36:28] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Devin Blackwood, send it through the Barrier Gate relay subject code "Grape Vine".
[25.01.2020 03:36:49] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Oh and as a sign of good faith.
[25.01.2020 03:36:49] N|-Adam,Weaver: We are not fond of Official Bretonia either...
[25.01.2020 03:37:29] N|-Devin:Blackwood: Now, we must take our leave.
[25.01.2020 03:37:39] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: acknowledged. Au revoir, Messiers
[25.01.2020 03:37:54] MAE|"Sorbonne": Giroux: have a nice flight in Gallia
