Ships in the same class and their weapons tend to cost rougly the same amount of money and have not too dissimilar stats from each other. All their value, even of those considered "good", lies almost squarely on the player's skills and ability to take advantage of their qualities, absurd because of the time it takes (years) to master the game and the ridiculous difficulty ladder in this accursed place where most people are too experienced, which means people potentially losing every engagement they have with a guy two or three years their senior in experience for an eternity until there is the slightest chance.
No, dude, losing for three years in a row isn't fun, and only someone who's used to win can come up with some moralistic hypocrisy like "Well what's important is having fun". No, having fun in my dictionary means winning, or having a chance at least.
Losing all the times is not having fun in my book.
Which leads me to the second point, the economy in Disco is a mess because you can easily become rich and still have nothing to do with that money because everything is over-balanced and everything's the same, so on a 1 on 1 against a guy with the same ship class that has more experience you're fucked regardless.
I want to grind and make money and do something nice with that money, like buying an OP ship or gun that allows me, a perpetual noob, to have a chance against the accursed pros who make up the overwhelming majority of this server.
Even trinkets like cloaking devices have ridiculous rules that negate their point, like having to warn some guy you're there and give him the time to prepare when the whole point of a cloaking device is to take an enemy off guard. All the thing's good for now is recon and scramming out of a fight you're losing, which is pointless anyway. Yes, I know the implications in terms of roleplay and being blown to smithereens every time I sneeze, and I don't care.
I want the game to be less frustrating as I try to learn, actually fun, because what it really is is just sweat and tear with not the slightest bit of gratification.
The fighting system is also effed up, armor upgrades and ridiculous amounts of regens make every fight last for three eternities even when you're a terrible pvper, which basically just prolongs the pain of playing this trainwreck of a mod when doing pvp. In vanilla the ships died with a figurative spit and they had only like mas 20-30 bots and bats at low levels and 60 tops for vhfs, which means that at least if you suck you die quickly instead of having to endure some tedious thing that can last as long as thirty minutes, I experienced this.
Judging by the fact that no one uses them, you also broke missiles.
I wish this was just feedback but it can't be anything more than (perpetual) n00b rage addressing structural issues which have been part of how the mod's been conceived from the beginning, to address these issues would mean reconceiving the whole thing from the groundup and this isn't going to happen.
Also the Enclave should be retconned out of existence.
