The Siege of Thuringia Thuringia, New Berlin, and Frankfurt
Hybrid Event
OVERVIEW
The Rheinland Civil war has slowed down to an exasperated grind of attrition. Federalist and Imperial forces have dedicated the vast majority of their fleets to holding their respective fronts. The Federalists, though outnumbered, have settled along the defensible perimeters of their holdout sectors and are barely keeping the line. Imperial forces exercise their numerical superiority by keeping pressure on the Federalist defenses, but losses are mounting and bottleneck defense points preclude any offensives without projections of horrendous casualties.
War weariness has resulted in mass unrest throughout Rheinland, in Imperial and Federal worlds alike - from the citizenry to the troops in the field. Feeling pressure to bring an end to the war as soon as possible, the Emperor has tasked Rear Admiral Otto von Clauswitz with planning a renewed offensive to bring about a decisive end to the war. Casualties be damned.
In preparation for a renewed offensive into Thuringia, Clausewitz has distributed sealed orders to mobilize Battlegroups Schwerin, Soltau, and Altenberg to encircle the Frankfurt front. Skeleton details remain to provide a defensive perimeter for Rheinland borders, while the vast majority of the Imperial Fleet have now redeployed to Oder Shipyard around New Berlin as a staging area for the final push. Efforts are underway to establish a temporary staging area near the New Berlin Gate, close to the front lines, to handle emergency ship repairs and defense coordination.
Federalist Intelligence has received word of a massive, final push towards Thuringia through Frankfurt. Fleet Coordinator von Steuben orders all offensive initiatives to scale down and return to Thuringia for the final defense of Weimar. To bolster defenses, von Steuben orders the construction of a fleet supply construct in Weimar orbit near Jena station in order to marshal the combined forces of the manned and drone fleets.
