Biography:
The 26 year old Takahashi Etsuko is a trader and an owner of a drone freighter name Kiji. Like her late mother, she features dark auburn hair, accompanied with a tall, athletic figure but blessed with natural grace. Etsuko is the only daughter and child from her family, and fortunately for her, she had been brought up in a family that embraced more personal freedom and “modern ideals” akin to the other houses.
Originate from Planet Junyo, Etsuko’s childhood was a rather boring and bleak one. She grew up in one of the many fishery platform on the planet, where her father worked as a distribution manager for the region. Whilst this provided job security for the family, she was not particularly fond of being stuck to a city essentially on an oversized rig. The child always had a wish to travel across the stars, exploring the cosmos and visiting unusual places.
On her seijinshiki, Etsuko father gifted her the family freighter much to her surprise. The ship, although over four decades old, has been well maintained by her father, and its electronics upgraded over the years. For Etsuko, this is pretty much the key to an adventure she desired. To fund her modest lifestyle, she began her own venture by brining trade goods from the core systems of Kusari, to the remoter border regions.
At first, business was relatively easy with many vendors willing to offer and help at a decent price, however reality quickly hits the inexperienced Etusko, when many of business contacts were attempting to make an advance on her, or expecting inappropriate favours in return. Closed to being harassed, Etusko had enough. She took a stand and began turning suitors and skirt-chasers away one by one, but unfortunately one of her more powerful, influential trade partner in particular did not take well to her rejection. With his ego bruised, and covert for Etusko to suffer and return grovel at his feet, he began spreading false rumours of her debauchery and fraud across Kusari. As a result, her reputation tarnished, and she was being turned away from trade ports one by one, over the months and year passed. Sadly many was unwilling, or rather not wanting to hear her side of the story instead.
The situation turned for the worse when one day thugs was sent to “teach her a lesson” of Kusari patriarchy. Etusko was on Planet Kyushu looking for goods to take to the Nagano sector, when two men ambushed her and dragged her to an alley. Despite her larger than average build and her best effort, the poor young trader could not break free from her struggle. Yet out of the odds, a passer-by did manage catch a glimpse of Etusko vanishing against her will and contacted the state police. Due to that she narrowly avoided being brutally and sexually assaulted, with her assailants ran off when they heard the officers approaching, but not before she was already roughed up, and clothes mostly torn from the ordeal.
Subsequently the officers brought her to the police station for safety, but rather than providing comfort to the already traumatized victim, the officers ridiculed her for her careless lifestyle and wasting their resource, who were still busy dealing with aftermath of the civil war. This had stunned the unexpected Etsuko, who never needed the law before and to receive such response when she needed it the most. Her attackers were never caught, they took the first transit out of the planet and her case was quickly shelved when the trail went cold over Freeport 6.
Regardless, Etusko now ostracized from the commercial community, struggled to make a living and soon found herself on the verge of being bankruptcy. Whilst she had the option to leave Kusari, this was her home and most importantly she felt owed. In desperation, she found herself working for a Blood Dragon in need of H-fuel quickly moved to Chugoku, where on completion, then immediately gave her another job moving her first contraband of delivering arms to Tottori. Etusko hesitated for a split second, but quickly understood the situation and agreed to take on the job. Unsurprisingly, she was initially cautious working for a group, branded by the government as a terrorist organization. Nonetheless, over time she casted away her suspicions and warmed herself to these people, whom at least treats her the respect that she deserved.
It also turns out she was half decent at smuggling, having some experience of the wilderness, knowledge of frequent flight paths and with combination with her innocent appearance, essentially gave her a free pass from the state police radar. Etusko was more than happy to take advantage of the system in return, and it wasn’t long before she was entrusted and escalated to moving heavy arms, alien materials and eventually drugs, where she was formally introduced to the Golden Chrysanthemums.
Reasons for joining inRP:
It appears that Golden Chrysanthemums is where Etusko really found a belonging to. Whilst the blood Dragon have treated her well, it had always been more a formal arrangement, not to mention she also soon grew tired shogun dedicated customs. While she frequently stayed at their installations, she always felt like a temporary visitor rather than a place she would call home.
On the other hand, Etusko really built a relationship every time she was working with the Golden Chrysanthemums. Despite the Kusari government portraying the group as a deranged fanatical throughout her growing years, she found it anything but as she got to know the group better. Having found a new bubble that understood her, and knowing they are living in an unjust society ruled by corrupt male dominated elite, Etusko finally knew she is in a good place. She thought to herself that If wasn’t for both the ideology and the endless reach of Cardamine that kept her on, then it was the beauty of Kinkaku-ji station that certainly made her stay.
Having now worked closely for a while and built a devout relationship with the followers of Matsuda, Etusko consider herself one of the more lucky ones after hearing some of the stories told by her fellow companions. Nevertheless, Etusko is grateful for the reception she has been given, and in return wants to help promote Matsuda’s teaching and struggle for a just, matriarchy ruled Kusari. The associate is willing to take a step further, should the sisterhood willing to formally accept her in their ranks.
