On behalf of Alpha Command, we salute you in these trying times. My name is Julia López, Observadora de La Flota Hiperespacial de Malta, and I will inform you what is the status of our current operations in Sirius, from our point of view.
Onslaughts never cease on our frontiers. In Tau systems, several reports inform of intrusions made by the Maquis and the Gallic Navy, especially by the last one. As we continue to push them back from Tau-37, and chasing them into Lorraine; we stomped upon their numbers in a constant struggle to maintain positions. The fierce combat in those areas have involved a great number of our forces, but also some of the other Cartels and families.
On our backyard, new and old powers from the Corsairs have been emerging lately. Even if they have not dared to attack our home lately, their numbers are increasing each day. To my regret, we have to inform that the present situation looks grim, as our attacks have not been successful to penetrate further; even if their casualties run high on each skirmish. They seem to have figured out a way to manage and accumulate a high quantity of resources in short notice, as we have seen numerous warships, of the Battleship and Dreadnought configuration, on the vicinity. If you intend to travel beyond, beware of their ambushes. Additional to that, the Corsair group called Deterrence has taken control of Knossos and the valuable Relics orbiting the atmosphere. Needless to say, that could become a larger problem in the long run, as we all know how the Corsairs economy goes with this particular commodity; they have centuries of experience taking this type of trading. Unfortunately, backing up other Maltese and our efforts to control zones of interest has made us lower the priorities on this matter and it will take time to make further actions on this regard.
A mystery remains in the deeper Omicrons. In the last year, nomad activity increased tenfold; their intentions towards the Outcasts became more aggressive and their fleets wandered the void recklessly until one day they just…vanished. The Nomad Worlds remained the same, but their movements beyond that completely stopped. The high cardinals, priests and the most conservative members of Santa Verna have been debating for several weeks about the behavior of the Spirits and they have not reached a consensus on this matter. They proclaim that most of the Outcasts have been insulting the ways of the aliens and they demand sacrifice from our part to maintain the balance with them. Of course, most Dons and our organization considered this deliberation as irresponsible, to say the least; but we are worried how this could be generating a catalyst for further insurrection in the lower parts of our society. A major control must be required on people and the Council of Dons should be gathered as soon as possible, to deal with this minor setback before it could become into something greater. Still, Malta Hyperspace Starfleet will always take the pragmatic decision on this matter, as we only want the best for our society. As a side note, Core forces have been more hostile towards the Corsairs; as the nomads remain on hiding, it seems that they needed to move their conquest delusions elsewhere. They even lend us additional support when we show up to go against our treacherous Cretan brethren. As the Alpha Explorer would say: “Entre más carne de cañón, mejor.”
Meanwhile, we have good news on Liberty. Our projections estimate an increase on our profits by 1.6% for the next quarter, as commerce with Cardamine has become higher than ever before. Families on their plantations will have plenty of celebrate, as the supply and demand have remained relatively intact. We can attribute this to the lack of interference of the so-called libertarian authorities, as they have been busy with another threat to their movements. During reconnaissance, we glanced heavy fleet movements from Insurgency forces attacking the Manhattan defense grid. This premature and unexpected strike has diverted the attention of the “peacekeeping” forces to them. Moreover, we were contacted by the Insurgency itself to join the fight and they even made communications to offer compensation for further attacks. Of course, we denied their insult in form of tip; especially considering how the Insurgency has treated the Maltese in the past; but in recent days they have shown a more collaborative attitude regarding us and Outcasts in general. It remains to be seen what will happen with them in the future. Futhermore, if you intend to communicate with them, be advise you to take the necessary precautions; Insurgency has not been trustworthy before and we seriously wonder what treachery they could be planning behind the scenes, even if they struggle in their own commitment.
In Bretonia, our contacts on Trafalgar have not reported important news and, oddly enough, it seems that their current military might have been dealing other irrelevant fronts. Mostly, we have heard rumors but nothing concrete that could bring issues to our Cardamine operations on the area. Our estimations in the market show mere 0.06% increase of the general income for the next quarter, a stability that could ensure the pockets of less bold traders, maintaining our economy fluctuating positively for us but with no explosive boons.
I hope that this brief summary has satiated your curiosity and we expect to see you more on the front lines, Guardia Svizzera.
