Going for officialdom means they need to step up their game. Perfect way to make sure they may go for more than /1 /2 if that is what they only ever did. Nothing stops anyone from doing /1 /2 on indies/unofficials, and there are official factions who still do that at the sight of a red, while other official factions don't even manage to get out more than lowercase "hi", ooRP local chat typing and violation reports against them.
Nothing guarantees effort more than a faction going for officialdom, when keeping officialdom is as easy as logging a powertrader that does not know the slightest bit about roleplay behavior. Everyone has an eye on Aegis now and comes with high expectations. Given Antonio is involved, who has always been the one PvP gamer with a certain level of conscience and roleplay quality, I have no doubt that Aegis will take this opportunity to prove that they are more than players who log to intercept players who sit in the same place for hours and then complain when Discovery throws a reaction at them that isn't in their favor.
