the rename thing, even on a once-a-day basis, has the potential to be abused heavily.
Of course, abusing it could also be in-RP... like having a generic ship of a sort (trader or whatnot) and being able to "rename" the ship to something local whenever you enter a new area of space, so as to avoid suspicion from the authorities.
