So I've finished a rename me plugin. It's ready for testing but not ready for use on a live server (hasn't had enough testing). If anyone has time to install FLHook-plugin and try this plugin out, I'd be grateful. Either PM me or publish your results here. The plugin was built against FLHook 1.5.9 but should work with earlier versions - again more testing needed.
I'll upload this to starport - hopefully one of the folk over there will have a look at it and tell me if I've made any serious mistakes. For now the plugin dll/project/source code are here: RenameMe Plugin
Hopefully the readme file explains how to install it
I've started on a bounty command and I think I might integrate the rename function with the bounty function so that bounties follow name changes - ye villans cannot escape.
Other things I might get around to doing:
- Adding tempban after rename - I can see how to do it - but I think I may be just sending a msg to all players saying player <blah> was renamed to <new-blah> will be good enough - I haven't done this msg either. Either way, name changes are logged by the plugin so evil doers will be caught eventually.
There still is a problem with doing too many renames in a single account between server restarts. This'll be fixed in the next version of FLHook - but the plugin should catch this situation if it happens and carry on. By default the plugin limits the renames per character to one per hour.
Starport or disco dev forum? don't know - probably starport
