This server has many, many people actively playing on it. Some role play to the hilt. Others prefer the rp-lite approach. Everyone else is somewhere in between. Roleplaying is a subjective exercise, difficult to quantify. What is legit rp is the eternal question on these forums. And the source of much needless flameage.
When the Core started raiding Gamma on a regular basis, I began to hook up with them. I had a BS at the time and I needed the shooting practice. The RP basis for being there was basically to probe the strengths of the Corsairs and to weaken the close ally of an enemy (The Order). Not epic rp, but rp nonetheless. I'm here to play a game, not write a science fiction novella.
To the Core's detractors I would point out the fact that they have recently begun using bombers on these aggressive recons to good effect.
If there were more Order players active, I think that there would be more skirmishes in O.Delta and O.Minor. Why aren't there more Order players? Does it have to do with the ships? Order weapons are top of the line, so it can't be an issue about having to use underpowered weps. Is the ZOI a problem for some players? The Order background story seems interesting enough.
Concerning Omicron 100, I will enter that system for my own purposes, one of which does not include attacking or spying on Order installations. I can't speak for all BH who have been in O-100, but my character has his own reasons for being there. If an Order ship spots my ship in O-100, I will tell them in detail why I am there. However, I normally use another route to get to where I must go. Space isvast - something that you don't really get to experience in this game - so even a guard system will have holes in its security.
The whole guard system idea is a bit odd anyway, but I digress.
If I am in Omicron Alpha, -Beta, or -Eta, I have an rp reason to be there. I leave it to your cardimine-enhanced mental faculties to figure out why I am in your systems. I won't be telling any Outcasts my reasons for being in their space. And no - the reason is not to pvp. Any intruder unwilling to leave upon detection is usually intercepted by a small flotilla of your cap ships, so pvp is pretty much a one-sided affair.
Everyone should rp on this server, but without the pressure of having to live up to someone else's idea of what your rp should be. Personally, I don't make it a point of trying to make everyone happy or earn respect points. I like flying my caps and I guess that makes my rp inferior by default. But I won't be losing any sleep over it.
Nonetheless, I try to follow the general guidelines of roleplaying and try to help others stay immersed in their rp.
Peace.
P.S. @Robert Fitzgerald: You might think twice about losing your Orca. It will be fixed (not nerfed) in the next mod. Imagine - you'll actually be able to use the front gun!
