Was playing for a while, studied, adapted, observed and gathered.
The Freelancer pilot's code of honor, or the simple rulebook.
1. Always respect your teammates, yet always respect your enemies more.
Remember than and think about how would you feel in his place.
2. If victory bathes you in its light, never bask in its glory if it was a easy fight.
It will allways feel sweeter, if the enermy you gunned down was more than a match for you.
3. If the enemy you see is weaker in any aspect. Let it be rank, armor, armament, never engage first. It is his choice to open fire, who knows, maybe he will sign his own death wish.
4. Never engage on sight. The best is to fly around, size up, scan the ID, armament and SS if needed. Attacking on sight is looked down upon.
5. While teamwork is high rated, do not eagerly jump to help your brother, if it is not needed. A fighter versus fighter is more than a grand sight. Instead of tipping the balance, minimise and get Fraps. Who knows, this might be one of your friend's greatest achevements, or, at least, a reminder of a fatal mistake.
6. Never seek a fight with a weaker enemy. If you know you will win, let them go, since, most likely, they know their chances.
7. Balance. Missiles are ment to kill. It is a weapon, if you can buy it, you can mount it and you will not get sanctioned. Yet remember, a canonball and a paralyzer is enough sometimes. No need for 5 missiles to annoy the feck out of your enemy.
8. Never spam. Your mine layer may have a refire rate of 1.00, yet it does not mean you have to use it.
9. The mirror. Capital ships against capital ships. If you have a navy char with a Fighter and a Cruiser. If you see a Xeno eagle, do not hesitate to switch to the fighter. While you can paste the poor lad in your cruiser, that would be a waste of H-fuel.
11. The pulse pounding end of a large battle, maybe you are shone upon as the victor, or let it be the darkness of the escape pod, PM your opponent with the simple line of //GF.
12. Hard work pays off, remember that. 200 missions for your first VHF is better than begging near Manhattan.
13. Your reputation may not be perfect. If you see you are a corsair in outcast space ready to duel, a simple fire on the Npcs may save you a lot of problems later.
14. You remember how releaving it felt to have that foolish fighter attack your gunboat? It feels good sometimes. Cheer someone up by doing the same.
15. Patience. Self explenatory.
16. There are times when in pvp your opponent must reply with a message. Respect him, do not fire on a ship that is drifting away and spinning.
17. The bigger they are, the faster they eat a SN.
18. Each time someone holds a grudge and dislike, a new BHG BS is bron.
19. Rp is the reason for pvp, never the opposite.
20. The "players online" feature is Not a "Deep scanner"
21. Lose with good grace.
22. At times it may be hard to realise when someone is typing or somesuch. If you do frag someone like that then be swift with your appology.
23. Learn to type and fight at the same time. It avoids moments like the above.
24. You enemies in RP are not your enemies in reality. Take time to talk to people from the opposing faction. It helps you not be a jerk about stuff if you know the people your shouting at.
Thou shalt not kill steal
Thou shalt not frag... without gloating in the aftermath
Thou shalt lose graciously; thou shalt not bitch nor whine when fragged
Thou shalt accept thy dice rolls as the will of the Gods
Thou shalt teabag only in the wake of unquestionable ownage
Thou Shalt not cheat nor support the farming of gold
Thou Shalt not covet they neighbors' rocket launcher; Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors' epic mount, nor his video card, nor his high score.
Know thy group function; Thy DPS shalt avoid aggro, thy tank shalt not attempt to DPS, thy made shalt not forget mana potions, and thy healer shalt not go afk without notifying thy group.
Thou shalt not whine when another dost bring a cap ship to a battle, and instead thou shalt PM quietly if thou dost feel it unrighteous.
This is what i can remember at 1am. Please, add more if you wish.
