GMG don't spend much. They have Kishiro doing most of the hauling for them, all they need to really pay for is wages, basic supplies and ship/station maintenance. Gas miner bases are just that: gas miners. Obviously they pay for themselves. Aomori is a administrative centre. I'd say GMG is both influential and pretty rich, considering it is basically a huge corporation, not much different from the oil giants we have in the present time.

Hessians are not pirates, but they aren't revolutionaries either. They are a mix of both. They are engaged in diamond smuggling and piracy to both fund their cause (the toppling of the Rheinland government) and undermine the Rheinland corporations. Those Hessians who are engaged in piracy usually take a scraps from the act for themselves, and nobody really bothers them about it. Diamond smuggling into Liberty alone is a large source of income for: Hessians, Unioners and Rogues. All three of these rely on each other as Hessians ship the cargo through Unioner space (who help with protection) and then deal with the Rogues, who distribute it in Liberty afterwards.
The Hessians are still a fairly organised movement, not really decentralised or anything. They run a massive supply ring through the Junkers and IMG to fuel their own demands. They also provide the LWB with all the supplies they need to wage war against Synth Foods in Stuttgart, and still have enough money to maintain their own capital ships as well as a force that easily outnumbers all the Corsairs in the Omega systems. I'd say they are fairly rich, but not that commited to pure profit.
