As I awaited my FTO Captain Hull O'Brian I took off from Manhattan and attached myself to Police Patrol Kappa 19 led by Sergeant Dugal. We encountered quite a few hostiles, mostly Rogues and Hackers, but I was advised to merely observe the engagements seeing as I was a fresh recruit without proper training or equipment. Unfortunately for the enemy pilots, no escape pods were ever launched. I'm not sure what would possess someone to die rather than surrender, but that seemed to be the case all along the patrol route. In the end two Rogues and four Hackers were killed. We had a few flee the scene of combat when they realized that they were out gunned and out manned.
After the patrol was finished I decided to cruise back to Manhattan and take a break from flight. On my way back I was hailed by Captain O'Brian on a secure com channel. He gave me the proper funding for a brand new LZF-6364 "Patriot" and the additional equipment. He then advised me to take on a few LPI missions to brush up on my piloting skills. Shortly after he had to dock at Manhattan to attend to some paper work and administrative duties.
My first mission was pretty straight forward, find and destroy a small patrol of Rogues. It was an easy job and all of the pilots managed to escape in pods. I didn't have enough space in the cargo hold to securely transport them so I radioed for an LPI pickup. Total downed ships Rogue ships: four.
On my return flight to Manhattan to pick up a mission I encountered a patrol of bounty hunters trying to fight off a group of Rogues that decided to attack the trade lane. Only one enemy pilot managed to escape unscathed, the other four were captured. After I finally made it back to Manhattan, I landed at the station and picked up a mission to assassinate a well known Rogue member, Shaun Krohn. The mission got a little dicey after one of my weapons was damaged, but the end result was that all four of the ships were downed. I delivered them back to a holding cell in Manhattan to await trial.
My next mission was a little easier, capture the known Liberty Rogue Toby Nazzal. He was accused of crimes against the house of Liberty and needed an...escort to make it to his trial later in the week. After a bit of dog fighting both pilots were downed and the prisoner was delivered to the station for booking.
My final mission to accomplish before I was awarded access to the Illinois system was to retrieve some commodity exchange access codes from a Rogue named Chad Caudle. Needless to say he wasn't going to give them up without a fight, so I lifted off from Manhattan with the intention to take them by force. As I was traveling through the trade lane, my trip was interrupted by two Rogues attacking a civilian ship. I stopped to assist the civi and picked up the lone Rogue escape pod. Taking down Chad was fairly easy and I ended up with two more prisoners by the end of the trip.
As I was preparing to head to Illinios, there was...an odd occurrence. As I was listening in on a military com channel there was some radio chatter saying that a "Keeper" had entered the system from "Alaska." I have heard rumors about those things, but I didn't know how accurate they were. As I listened I heard the...creature send system wide transmissions. They weren't so much words as emotions and I couldn't be sure if its intentions were friendly. I told the civilian that I had been conversing with, Andre Young, that I would have to escort him out of the system until the "Keeper" could be found and eliminated. It was too dangerous to leave him alone with that thing flying around unaccounted for. It took the Navy a few hours to...do whatever it was they did to get it to leave.
I escorted the civilian all the way to Freeport 4 where I decided to resupply. Unfortunately, I was attacked after un-docking by someone with a vendetta against the LPI. He was angry about his patrol being attacked by Liberty naval forces. He hit my ship pretty hard and had I not punched out at the last second, I probably would have ended up dead. After I explained to him that I had no part in attacking his patrol he became significantly less hostile, helpful even. He gave me a few combat tips as I waited at the bar for my ship to be repaired.
After I bid farewell the OI operative and his friend, I made my way to Illinois. I hit a really bad ion storm on the way back. The controls were knocked out for about 5 minutes and I was left drifting. After I managed to get the systems back online, I continued on my way. About 20 minutes later I docked in Illinois and finished my patrol.
