Mark Schultz was just a child, when his father died in a Hessian ambush.
His mother sent the youth to military school. He graduated the naval faculty with a score high enough to guarantee him a position on a capital ship's bridge. In five years he was already third mate of the battleship Straussberg.
He showed a remarkable knack for strategy, and managed to earn the recommendation of the Staussberg's captain for a promotion. He was awarded the position of second mate of the Rheinland Military's battleship Schwerin in 815.
A lucky hit on the Schwerin's bridge in a recent skirmish with Hessians catapulted him to overall leadership. His captain dead, Mark was forced to assume command and coordinate the battle against the Hessian offensive.
In acknowledgement of his valor the Admiralty approved yet another promotion for Schultz. He was given command of the brand new battleship Scharnhorst.
