Religion wouldn't have as much sway as it does here and now maybe, but I am hard pressed to believe that Organized Religion up and completely disappeared in the "Alliance" House Systems.
Didn't say it's disappearing. My whole point is that the religion is more a faith in the House than a faith in god. Though the God bits still exist, I believe that more people are atheist/agnostic/deist and loyal to a faith of nationalism than a faith in Christ.
As to the cathedral structures...The empire state building looks a lot like a cathedral...A very stretched one, but one nonetheless. And if you visit some of the commodity dealers, they're in huge rooms. Massive rooms. Roofs stretching to the sky under cathedral-like vaults..Point being, there are other reasons to build cathedral looking things. Like the fact that if you want a large open space, Cathedrals are the simplest way to build them. Its not my fault that the only thing the economy supported building huge spaces for in the middle ages were churches.
