Why do you assume religion is gone when it's not mentioned on every street corner? People adjust themselves to life, maybe religion adjusted itself to people for once. This is also some thousand years in to the future. Seeing how religion now has far less impact than it had 1000 years ago, you might assume that this trend continued.
