the way i see it, freelancer is mainly based upon nationalism, the way the original nations have behaved through history and stereotypes.
Example, Liberty (USA):
it's believes are mainly based upon capitalism and democracy, which is visible in the fact that they are the only ones who have a president. Also when people think of the USA more thinks that drop into there minds, Secret service (with all those conspiracy theories), cowboys (or rednecks), organized crime,...
for conspiracy theories we have zone 21 and alaska
for rednecks we have xenos
organized crime, there are the rogues (they are the only criminal organization that doesn't have a higher goal, they just want to make money)
So basically i would suggest that if there is religion in freelancer, it should be based upon the origin of the faction you want it to be.
