John Kyle stood on the soft grass of Earth grasping a rifle and ammunition slung over his shoulder. He held in is hands a pair of binoculars very high powered, he could see for at least eight miles. It was dark the moon shone brightly over the terrain, John spied in the distance a small camp tanks and infantry littered it. All bearing coalition markings he signaled his twelve man squad including himself, to come to his side. Each carried similar rifles.
John himself was a tall man, he had black hair and brown eyes he was in good shape and intense look and feeling accented his dark brown eyes as they watched the coalition troops on the ground preparing to attack the alliance base. Don, Michaels take the right flank open up on the barracks. Winters, Jackson hit the left, everyone else with me. John ordered.
The soldiers followed him rifles ready and looking for a target, there it was open and exposed the generator in the camp. John aimed his rifle, a small grenade launcher was mounted beneath it he loaded a grenade into the launcher and fired it. It spiraled through the air and landed directly on the generator causing a large explosion.
Johns men flanked the camp and rained a hail of lead onto the unsuspecting coalition forces. John took his men forward into the brawl and took down ten Coalition troops while they reached for their rifles. The fight was on..

Drake Thastus stood aboard the bridge of his Flagship Ragnarok, the Battleship and its Captain had seen more combat than most do armies do. Drake stood staring out the viewport at the large fleet assembled heading to what seemed like the battle of Armageddon. You know Jack; this brings back memories that once seemed so far away from me. Yes I remember now, the sleeper ships pushing their way through a cloud of darkness and coalition fighters. The fleet really didnt even stand a chance.
Yeah, Drake you said by the end of the day I will know what happened to you. Weve got a long drive ahead of us. Jack replied, he was an average height individual a strong sturdy but slim build, a brown black tinted hair color and turquoise colored eyes. Drake thought of him as an amazing pilot he could fight a dozen wings of nomad raiders and not lose his shields.
I will tell you one thing; this isnt the worst situation I have ever been in. I remember the day we fled Earth the Alliance fleet pushing its way through the coalition net. Drake answered, Drake you see is not an ordinary individual. He does not age, he was part of an American project called project FIREFLIGHT in which twelve people were genetically altered to have greater strength endurance and become super soldiers.
It worked all to well, not only were these twelve stronger, faster and smarter they became something greater. They had amazing regeneration and did not age, get tired or have to drink water every three days. They were not invincible no, not at all, in fact they lost a lot of human qualities they were almost robotic in their form of killing. They had no remorse or emotions when they fought.
Drake and the others had to be repaired after every battle when they go into combat and suffered a wound their brain would stop regulating heart beat muscle movement and breathing it would focus on regeneration. So they had to be plugged into machines that preserved their lives while they healed.
However the super soldiers were a massive success in fact the twelve man squad killed more than 45,000 people in the war. It is believed that Drake killed 10,000 of them, but no one truly knows for no one counted. But now here in liberty Drake is the only one left, the last person the only man alive from the days of the Great War.
And what is the most ironic is that the government that created the killing machine tried to kill him. Their official story when the press asked about him attacking and destroying Liberty Dreadnoughts in massive numbers with his insurgent capital ships was that he was a traitor and escaped. Drake told his men that the nomads tried to kill him but that was not the case.

John Kyle and his friend Daniel Winters waited impatiently aboard the massive sleeper ship Liberty watching throngs of coalition forces circling them and shooting down alliance fighters like flies. They felt a heavy jolt as the sleeper ship pushed its way into space four others following it. The Bretonia and the Kusari amongst them, each of them representing a country the one it was from.
Everywhere people where dieing and there was nothing John could about it but he knew by escaping here today with the rest of the alliance he was doing humanity a favor. By ensuring the safety of freedom in the future against the oppressive forces of the coalition who sought to end the freedom that the people of America had long since taken for granted and not acknowledged what their ancestors had gone through to make sure they would be safe in the future.
How did this happen Dan? We the most powerful nation of the world and its allies lose a war against a foe like this and be forced to leave our home? John asked, his heart sinking deeper into dismay as he watched deaths flying around him, and the world he came from fading into the distance as the great titanic engines of the Liberty, pushed them away from the turmoil and death that had been wrought by the coalition.
I dont know John, how or why this happened it just did. At first we were winning and forcing them to remain peaceful and leave us alone. But then.then it escalated into this death brawl for control of the very planet we had learnt to share over thousands of years. Dan replied, he did not like the whole thing and how it turned from a war to into a slaughter between two god like powers.
And what hurts the most is I can do nothing to stop this pointless slaughter all I can do watch while I am forced to leave my home the land I love. My home America the one place I will never see again. John looked out into space as Earth faded away maybe twenty alliance fighters made it out of the hellhole that the coalition had turned Earth into.
A young tall pilot walked onto the bridge of the Liberty, Drake Thastus. He stood beside John Kyle his commanding officer and friend. At least we made it out. Drake said solemnly. We have a long flight ahead of us, you want first watch Dan? Drake asked.
Dan nodded, John and Drake walked to the elevator and headed down to their rooms. Yeah, I get to baby sit the fleet.
Days passed by and the fleet pushed its way into the unknown of a system known as Sirius. It the last hope of the Alliance, their salvation, their only chance to survive and carry on the dream of freedom. Drake was on watch duty, standing there on the bridge watching the deep black of space folding around them as they pushed through it.
It was poetic, to leave blood and death for eternal darkness and to endlessly search for a home amongst the stars. The moral of those not in sleeping was beginning to decline, was this long journey through the stars worth it?
And there, what seemed like a small flicker of light, it began to expand into a bright orange glow. A bright glowing orange sphere of light and heat, the dark gloomy and cold bridge began to light up and warm up for the first time in months. Can it be? Did we make it? Drake saw several planets on the horizon, one was a planet that looked very much like the Earth hed left behind. The space around it was an interesting brown color it looked strange to him.
The comm lit up a message from the Rheinland, It looks like we found New Berlin!
Germany had made the first claim in Sirius; Drake looked out at the landing craft making their war down through the atmosphere to the surface.
Two hours later the Kusari made its claim in Sirius, followed by the Liberty and the Bretonia. Colonization had begun and theyd found home
(Please tell me what you think of it, does it suck? Is it good? What does it need to be better? And I want constructive criticisim only please. Oh for those who played Starlancer if I made any errors about that part please let me know. I never got around to playing it.)
