Traders without weapons would promote more of a need for escorts on dangerous trade routes. Hurrah for even more RP.

I honestly sigh every time I see this get escorts argument. I cannot remember the amount of times I have gone through reasons that the argument/point does not work in practice.

Regardless, I like how non-Zoners are turning up and telling Zoners how to role-play. (Or Zoners which are not really Zoners.)
