Alex opened his mouth to speak, then shut it again. He paused for a long moment, considering the question carefully, before finally answering. "The Kusari invaders have the advantage of numbers, which they threw directly at us, like a spear. We held them at the Tau-31 gate for awhile, but eventually sheer numbers overwhelmed us, and they pushed through in the hope of quickly seizing Planet Leeds... Which failed, fortunately. But the brute force attack was enough to take the jumpgate and Stokes, and leave them at the doorstep of Leeds, though I expect their casualties were high."
He paused again for a moment to take a breath, then continued. "Of course, by making such an attack, pushing onward to Leeds without first securing Tau-31 and Dundee, they leave themselves open to a counterattack which could, God willing, leave their forces divided and cutoff from help. If they cannot very quickly secure their flanks, they'll be forced to fall back at least as far as Glasgow, if not all the way back into the Taus."
