You should have seen how it was around .83 'till middle/late .84. Female characters were much less common back there, and also treated with much more special attention. I had people randomly give me group invites, people asking me "r u a gurl?" in private and, yeah, people flirting with me as soon as they see me.
Now, almost all special attention female characters receive comes from Watsas. He even knocks Phantoms up. With a female char. And causes them to go emo after sex:P.
