' Wrote:This is how it is. Omega Pirates Guild now forces its people OUT of Gamma. Gamma is the biggest cesspool of lolwhutting ooocing retarded brainless noobs on the server. I gave up there. Completely. If i had a ban hammer id have muscles like he man from hitting so many people.
DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR AND DONT GO TO GAMMA.
If you do expect to be shot down by cap spamming retard noobs in legate who rule lawyer you while re-engaging and cruising after you with caps. Then no doubt when you inevitably go bang your demise WILL be marked with a round of 'lol'
If i could exterminate every ****tard in Gamma with a ray gun of retribution I would.
Since I cant either accept its a crap system and dont go there or accept its a crap system and do.
DONT BOTHER WHINING ABOUT IT HERE BECAUSE ANYONE WITH A BRAIN IS ALREADY AS SICK AS YOU.
The rest are probably in Gamma eating each others LOL with hungry spoons.
Real corsairs arent in Gamma.
See OPG for more details.
That's nice. Here we have someone who seems to be the leader of an official Corsair faction shouting loud and clear that there are no "real Corsairs" in Omicron Gamma and admitting that it's members are all but barred from roleplaying in it. That's great. Much like someone else before me I am somewhat disconcerted (perhaps even angered) by this, although admittedly not to the same degree.
Just so you know, there are indeed decent (dare I say good?) roleplayers in Gamma. There are (believe it or not) players who play for the RP and not, as you put it, for "capwhoring" and lulz'ing about. Yes, there are some who are like that. However, dumping everyone who does play in Gamma into the same group is ignorant at best, and highly insulting otherwise. Saying that Gamma is a crap system is effectively the same thing as calling everyone in it "cap spamming retard noobs".
I fly a Praetorian. My character's RP (yes, there is RP in Gamma, whether you make yourself blind to it or accept that it is there should you make an effort to look out for it) all but binds him (well, it) to Gamma and, more specifically, Planet Crete. Not only will keeping potentially good roleplayers outside of the system never help improve anything in it, you are effectively making it less likely to find someone else who wants to RP in Gamma because you basically limit it to the "lolsairs", as someone in this thread dubbed them. That's somewhat unfair for those of us who do want to play well yet find ourselves limited by those who claim to want the same thing, yet refuse to share it.
Omicron Gamma always was (and still is, by the way) the Corsair home system. Ignoring it and making new unofficial "home systems" of sorts for your faction (such as Omega-5) is again not going to solve anything. Ever.
It's not always about talking to each and every player who plays without any regard for anyone else's fun to try and explain what's wrong. Sometimes all you need to do is lead by example. I've only recently re-joined Discovery, I had been playing last year for a while before other things came up. I played in Gamma as a Corsair back then as well, and I have some good memories of good RP gameplay, especially one in particular. I'll describe it to you so that maybe you'll get where I'm coming from here:
A small group of enemies had come to Gamma (I seem to remember them being Madalorians, although I could be mistaken on that point) and after some RP exchange with the Corsairs present (some OPG and others Benitez, with one or two independents following them), a fight took place. The independents were ordered to stay back and not interfere, as they were in capital ships when such heavy artillery simply wasn't needed, and they complied. The fight ended with the Corsairs winning, but a few had been destroyed, one of which was a Corsair Elder. (I'm not sure what happened to the Elders, as I haven't seen them around yet.) He RP'd his escape pod ejecting and one of the other Corsairs present RP'd towing it back to one of the bases in the system. All of this happened within RP and within the often-clouded rules of fairplay.
Now, the part that struck me most was not the fight itself or the foreplay (no innuendos intended) preceding it, but rather the part following it that involved the Elder's ejection and one of his allies saving him from the clutches of the void. This wasn't a terribly long scenario, nor a very complicated one. That marked me, and since then I've tried to roleplay as excellently as that simple event had shown me was possible. That is leading by example, something which has apparently been dropped by the factions that should be doing their best to make things the best they can.
Something else that may interest you, perhaps more so than my previous point: In the whole situation, the factionized players had only to tell the independent Corsairs present once to stay back and they respected that request, because those independents respected them. Believe it or not, that is indeed possible, provided you give an actual reason for that respect. Staying away from those players is not going to make it happen, nor will staying near those players without making the effort to give an impressive example.
Why is it that veteran players who enjoy RP turn their nose up at Gamma? It's because there simply aren't enough other experienced players that play there regularly. If more serious roleplayers spend time in the system, I can assure you that others will come as well. If you abandon the system to those you wouldn't deign to play with the problem will merely stagnate and rot, and the bad reputation that Gamma already has will continue to escalate. I honestly believe that the first step toward making things better is to move the factionized players back into Gamma. If you don't want to do so, you're only hurting the Corsairs more and more by making them a more appealing faction for those who simply want to "pew pew" with big guns and bigger ships.
In short, there are problems in Omicron Gamma. No one can deny that after playing there for an extended period of time. However, I firmly believe that if the people who want to roleplay the game thoroughly and not simply do the bare minimum to be able to fight whomever they wish make an effort to spend time in the system, things can and will get better. Left as things are, the system is only going to attract the wrong kind of player and not those genuinely interested in the main aspect of this server: Roleplay.
Oof... Longest first post I ever made, but then again, it does concern an issue I find important.
