Sorry to post so soon but I have been thinking about this issue.
In all instances but a brigand or union corse running away you dont.
junker blockade runner-goes back to gallia at the end of the run
privateer-goes back at the end of pirating
and such. Specially if its a large ship and they have an engineer onboard (say gunboat or transport) any machine shop and they should have it running soon enough.
Runaway brigands and such- their ships are salvaged some of the cards even say that. Would it not be so different to fix them with random salvage?
