One of the cool things about the Gaians is that they are still wide open for development...As long as a person takes the available info about them provided by the infocards as a baseline, there ain't nothin' wrong with coloring outside the lines & trying something different.
That said, if y'all come up with something unique & cool, I'll be one of your biggest cheerleaders.
The way I see them:
There is a deep schism within the faction between the stereotypical Corsair allied Neo-Gaians & the old school Grass Roots Gaians. This is because the Gaians became militant only 77 years ago & it's logical that many of the people that started the transition to ideological violence would still be alive today & hold some sway within Gaian society.
Beyond that, it's also logical that by now, the offspring of the original Gaians would have adult offspring of their own. Considering that many of the 2nd generation & all of the present 3rd generation are native, & have lived their entire lives outside the law on Gaian property, they would be heavily indoctrinated with the old-school mentality they were raised with by their elders...& without ever holding true Bretonian citizenship, they would not have any patriotic leanings to the crown whatsoever.
For those non-natives that joined the Gaians by choice, it's a different story for each & every one of them, but there's bound to be friction in the ranks, originating from when the ugly Corsair Zeitgeist reared its head in Edinburgh & took a firm hold.
I could go on & on, but everything else I imagine about Gaian culture as a whole simply stems from all of this.
::Edit- Also, even though this opinion could warrant a thread if its own, I'd like to add that IMHO, a person can play 2 seperate Gaian characters that are so ideologically opposed to one another, that it teeters on the cusp of hatred of one another::
