' Wrote:Quite interesting. Just for the sake of curiosity, could you tell us some tech detail about the old and the temporary configurations?
The temporary hardware is a Fujitsu Siemens desktop machine, with a P4 HT processor running at 3.4 GHz, and with 1 GB of PC3200 DDR ram.
It was a surplus machine used previously for wordprocessing and nothing else.
The old server from the Czech Republic, I do not know the specifications on, except being told it has been overclocked to 4 GHz and has 4 GB of ram.
The donated server that will be used for Cannon's split universe system, is a Hewlett Packard DL120 U1 formfactor rackserver, with a Xeon Dual Core CPU running at 3.0 Ghz, and 4 GB of ECC Ram.
The temporary server can be seen to the left in this picture, the one with the blue lights. Next to it are two UPS's that will be used for the two servers, and the rack cabinet with our phonecentrals, servers, switches, routers and fibergateway.
The rack cabinet is placed in our serverroom cooled by a 3.7 kW Daikin wallmounted cooling and dehumidifier, maintaining 18 degrees Celsius. Incidentally, we allso store the beer for our TGIF farewells in the server room.
The DL120 will be mounted in the rack cabinet above the screen you see inside it. The old server will be placed next to the machine inside the rack cabinet.
Everything will be connected by 100 Mb Ethernet to the Cisco switch further above (not in picture), and from there go through our firewall, our router and our fiber gateway.
The connection at current is a 10/10 Mb/s fiber with a 5/5 Mb/s ADSL2 backup. The fiber connection will be upgraded to a 25/25 Mb/s fiber connection after newyears.
