A young man walks into room
"This is the Bretonian Armed Forces recruitment center, correct?"
A woman behind a desk lifts her head
"Yes it is, are you here to sign up?"
The young man looks determined and responds
"That's what i'm here for"
The woman smiles and hands him a paper
"Fill in this application form then, if you have any questions let me know"
When the paper reaches the young man's hands the woman can clearly see a spark of genuine happiness in the young man's expression.
He quickly replies:
"Thank you, i will fill this in immediately"
The young man heads for a desk, sits down and starts writing:

Brief History of yourself and your family:
My parents were Henry and Callie Shepard.
I don't like to admit it but my biological father and mother were Cardamine smugglers.
They died when i was 7 years old, i was placed in a foster family, Roland and Janice Tremaine are my parents now.
I don't know what i would have done without them.
When i was older they told me that my biological parents had died during one of their smuggling operations.
The investigation that followed resulted in the conclusion that they encountered another criminal, most likely a pirate, the outcome needs no explanation.
They might have been criminals but to me they were kind and caring.

Escorting transports from time to time and one encounter with a pirate that fortunately ended badly for him.
Reasons for signing up for the Armed Forces:
This might seem strange to some, seeing my history but i want to stop smugglers, pirates and other scum.
I don't want other people to make the same mistake my parents did and end up like them.
Let it be clear that i am not on a personal crusade for revenge.

I am transferring from the reserve fleet, i always wanted to join the Bretonian Armed Forces because they seem to share the same vision as me and they get the job done.
Being part of the reserve fleet enabled me to apply for the Bretonian Armed Forces.
