Some of the R&Ders have had issues with funding before. That was before we sunk several million credits into a little funded black ops project. In a few weeks we've been able to reap quite a good profit credits in our little venture. We've been able to fully fund Project Virage without outside investors. If you would like we could funnel some our resources to Project Gamma. We'll be in contact with our operative soon about project funding in a few days.
The boys down at R&D have been pretty busy these days tooling around with ideas. Most of the ideas have been outright rejected. Crazy engineers wanted to mount warship class guns on a transport for commerece raiding. Strange people down there. However one of the engineers came up with an intersting idea called Strike Cannons. The preposed idea would be to stagically place units of 3 or 4 Strike Cannons in key spots to fire on incoming captial ships. Each Strike Cannon would mount 3 main guns. The goal would be to damage or cripple capital ships before they could do signifact damage. As of right now Strike Cannons hasn't gotten off of the drawing board but if they do it could provide a cheaper means of defending Vespucci rather than relying on large amounts of capital ships.

OOC: Here is a youtube clip from the PS1 game Colony Wars that shows what a Strike Cannon does to capital ships. This class of ship would be based off of that one.
