I usually don't post on such threads, but part of these answers are off (starting) topic and some off topic posts lack any humour, some are nearly sick (please spare me references).

I, too, believe that there are more intellingent species in this or other universes, but that none of them has yet managed to break light speed until now (thus was not able to contact us).

We here are lucky that we've got jump gates and jump holes that let us reach other solar systems. :)
