I look at my relation ship with my parents, and I look at my best friend's with his. Wildly different. His parents are much like the guy in the video. They are rough, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Thing is, they overdo things, they get worked out over nothing and humiliate him (verbally) for no actual reason. This makes him rather rebellious and sometimes unpleasant (towards them only). Which makes them even more rough, which makes him...you get the idea. No idea who "started" it, but it's not going well.
My relationship with my parents is somewhat merrier, on the other hand. To be honest, can't remember the last time we had a real argument. It's not that we don't have disagreements. It's that it never was necessary to raise the tone, or do something as glamorous as in that video. Simple words were always enough. Goes both ways, mind you. I listen to them, they listen to me. And I'm not an easy person, I'm rather...odd, myself. Extremely different from my parents, which can cause friction. But I keep it to myself. My room is an awful mess, but I keep the rest of the house clean, for example. I may not do certain things they'd want me to do, but then again, I don't demand stuff from them. And so on..
Of course none of that is possible, if either party is unwilling to make it such.
I think he was just past his breaking point. Americans don't freak out in the way we do.
