Rex Easley wandered through the tall glass door of Christy's looking for a brief respite from his duties as a constable with the Bretonia Police. He suffered more than a little culture shock as the sights, smells and sounds of the small 'Tea and Crumpet' shop pervaded his senses. This was not Sunbucks, he thought. The former LPI officer approched the counter, looking for a small round cake with a hole in the center. Not finding one, Rex decided to immerse himself into his environment. "I'll take a crumpet, please." Might as well find out how good these things really are. The lady at the counter quicly rang it up and presented it to him with a smile.
Rex walked to a stool and sat down. He examined the crumpet carefully. It didn't look horrible, but it was no doughnut. He took a small bite and grimaced. UGH! How bland! What am I to do with this?
After a little thought, he grabbed a small knife and carefully cut the center out of the crumpet. Walking back to the counter, he enquired about some honey and powdered sugar. The lady at the counter shot him a curious look, but eventually gave him the requested items. Rex sat back down, glazed the 'centerless crumpet' with some honey, sprinkled some powdered sugar on it, and then took a bite. "Much better," he said aloud. Maybe this place will do alright. For the first time since he arrived in Bretonia, he almost felt at home.
