After Action Report:
Two reports in one, actually. Two days ago I was on regular patrol when I received an emergency message that a Rheinland battleship had trespassed into Texas. I aborted patrol and switched to my SWAT-class Roc and scrambled over there.
Upon my arrival, there were several vessels already engaging the Battleship designated "Jarek.RM". Surprisingly, most of them were pilots Liberty considers hostile themselves. two Outcast Tridentes, the Rogue Destroyer "Maelstrom" plus several independant pirates and unlawful mercenaries.
After the Battleship was added to the local scrap field, the criminals dispersed immediately and left the area without causing much of a hazzle for us.
The two Outcast gunships who agreed to leave Liberty, however, did not. When I was on my way to return to Fort Bush, I stumbled upon them after jumping to New York. XA-Aquila and Kallee, a rogue bomber, were also in the area, making the situation a tad complicated.
But, shortly thereafter a small task force arrived. Impressed by the might of Liberty, the criminals decided to not press their luck and dispersed soon after specific orders.
After that, I logged it and finished my patrol for the day.
When I started my patrol yesterday, though, I stumbled upon a suspect on the Manhattan-Detroit lane. He had disrupted the tradelane, ejecting me from the lane cycle, and immediately charged cruise engines and tried to take off. I pressed pursuit and was 4k behind, barely out of CD range, but close enough to take out the possibility for him to run to the Jersey Field. After he flew 50k into nowhere with me close behind, me the whole time calming him down and soothing him, he stopped and we could take in peace.
I had no evidence on my hands against him, except the fact he disrupted the traffic with a probable intention to pirate, especially considering the Barghest shipclass he was sporting. However, after some time of interrogation, he made the rather dumb mistake of admitting he was a pirate out of the blue:
Obviously, I decided to take him in. I offered him the terms of surrender, and he complied so far as to drop all ammunition and repair kits.
I destroyed them on the spot. After that, I demanded that he power down his weapons and head to Sugarland with me. I already called O'Brian to support me with his SWAT vessel so we could escort the pirate safely, but just this moment he decided to press his luck and my alarms warned of an incoming SNAC projectile. I easily evaded with my Libby, but he didn't respond to calls for ceasefire and continued fire with EMP and Energy cannons. At this point I decided to take this loon out of space and let O'Brian divert to Texas, as he had just launched from Fort Bush.
After 3 minutes of combat, the Barghest disintegrated.
Among the remains I even found an ominous weapon type, someone had scratched "DIAMONDBACK" on it. Odd. I returned with the lifepod and the weird weapon to Fort Bush for further investigation.
