... all these rules of "only pirate a trader once"... "no cruisers for pirating"... etc. is actually more for reliability than it is for RP.
What's the use of being a Bounty Hunter (or a merc) if every trader has a battleship stored in the next System ?!
And why the hell would you want to pirate a trader, if you already know that you're gonna have a battleship on you if you do ?!
My char Sgt. WebOtus used to be a trader in his younger years - and that was it... just a trader, doing what all traders does, making profit to make more profit... not to buy a bloody colonial fleet !!
If you get pirated and you know he is still remaining on the same spot, take a different trade route, or hire some guns !! It's not like there is only ONE acceptable trade route... I think pirates should be allowed to pirate anyone who comes within their range, wether it's for the second time or not (that doesn't mean, though, that a pirate is allowed to go hunting for a specific target four systems away from him !!).
And as for pirates in Cruisers... it has it pros and cons, but that would keep traders on their toes, instead of them being bored the whole time... good traders can get away, poor ones must pay up or hire help.
