Can't have a trial unless you're willing to turn yourself over to the authorities. If you're willing to turn yourself and your ship over to the Liberty authorities, then the trial will begin.
Until that happens, the arrest warrant is still active and officers have permission to use lethal force if you aren't willing to comply with their orders.
