Assault Reconnaissance pilot callsign "Malikmata" reporting engagement beginning at 2130 hours and lasting until 2305 hours. I was specifically requested to escort the battleships Ven'Gyr (commanded by Executive Commander Duncan Voss) and Incursus (commanded by the "Grace" AI) and the Repair Ship Lake Crescent alongside Grand Admiral Richard Wainwright, Major Meallan Dagon, Lieutenant Josh Quino, and Pilot First Class Guy Dale. I proceeded to New York, where we spent quite some time engaging in reconnaissance maneuvers before being ordered to proceed to the California Jump Gate to RV with the battleships and take out a gunboat that was harassing them. This gunboat, the LNS Assault One, turned out to be a bait ship.
Within moments, a massive combined Navy fleet had arrived. Major Dagon and I quickly scrambled to disrupt the heavy capital ships' maneuvering capabilities, and the other fighters opened fire on a gunboat as per orders. This ended poorly, and resulting in the Ven'Gyr and Incursus being chased in circles by half a dozen heavy capitals, five fighters, and four gunboats.
Eventually, through the efforts of Major Dagon and myself, the Ven'Gyr and Incursus were able to quickly destroy a Task Force Seven Assault Battlecruiser, the Matagorda Bay escaped the bulk of the fleet and lured several of its member capitals to an isolated position, where they proceeded to engage them. Meanwhile, I ran out of disruptor missiles, and was ordered to join Major Dagon's against the bulk of the fighters involved in the engagement and the gunboat LNS Gunstar.
The small furball quickly escalated. One of the Joker's men - or, in this case, robots - joined us in a Mafic Super Heavy Fighter, and its Supernova Antimatter Cannon allowed us to destroy the Gunstar. We continued to fight four fighters, but that was short-lived. The Thug quickly handled a fighter with his Cannon, disposing of one "Mathew Dragon" about a minute after the gunboat went down. Soon, the Lake Crescent and Admiral Wainwright came in, pursued by the gunboat LNS Ranger. The Crescent restocked the Thug's fighter, then quickly left to avoid an incoming LSF bomber, which pursued it. The Ranger proved difficult to take down, however, due to its apparent habit of escaping via cruise every time its shields failed. As the Major and I had used all of our disruptor missiles on the heavy capitals, we had no way to stop it. We soon learned to ignore it and continued to fight the Navy fighters.
Shortly thereafter, Lt. Quino arrived at the battle site, and reported the destruction of PFC Dale's fighter. He was pursued by yet another Navy fighter, piloted by the Task Force Seven's Suicide Knights Wing Leader Marshal. Both ships joined the furball, and the gunboat targeted Lt. Quino. Meanwhile, I set my sights on the Navy fighter "Gordon Freeman". I destroyed it in about two minutes. Unfortunately, Lt. Quino's fighter was destroyed at nearly the same time as the Navy fighter. Both are noted here. The Thug then quickly proved its efficiency yet again with another well-aimed Supernova, and took down the Navy fighter "JohnEagle".
The Gunboat, unfortunately, was still a problem, and was dealing serious damage to our fighters. I decided to handle it when I noticed a nearby mercenary in a Havoc Mk II bomber, and I hired him on-the-spot using the funds provided for special survival situations for the Assault Reconnaissance wing. He had a cruise disruptor, and quickly proved to be entirely worth the money. Within minutes, the Ranger was destroyed.
There were now several heavy capital ships in the area, but their captains were smart enough to stay away from the Supernovas. However, they launched two more gunboats, the LNSVanilla and the LNS Vertigo, to engage our snubcraft. Both were dealt with in short order by the Thug and the mercenary with Legion Debilitator support. The Legion fighters then took out yet another Navy fighter, piloted by one "Paul Walker". Unfortunately, there was no guncam shot for this kill.
Moments later, I noticed the LNS Assault One incoming. This heavy assault gunboat is known to be quite the threat, and quickly took full priority. Even a random Lane Hacker flying by helped us take it down. The gunboat was, however, finally downed. Marshal now found himself entirely without support, and ran for his life.
We then rendezvoused with Incursus and picked up the rest of the battle report. Apparently, the Lake Crescent had eventually been taken down by the LSF bomber, and the Ven'Gyr had been badly wounded in a rush against the LNS Pacific. However, the Incursus and Ven'Gyr had also taken out the Pacific, making it the largest kill of the mission. We landed on the Incursus' deck and reported to the mission debriefing. Mission success.
