They were designed to be this way. Originally with the purpose of living in different areas of space, and on the many planets of Sirius.

Evolution =/= changing. Cells can change individually, one of the biggest results is cancer, and that can overwhelm you in under a year.

Besides, even adaptation has a limit.

EDIT: though the progression is unlikely, and yeah, probably slow. Given the amount of people in Sirius, however, it's more than possible that someone already -is- incompatible with Nomad genetics.
