Dave listened carefully and stood silent as he watched deep in Ellie's eyes. He saw her affection and patted her hand even more, and as a blink of anger he tight his left fist and said with a serious tone...
"Animals... how could they even conceive to harm a small child as Rika ? *He looked at Rika, then turned back to Ellie*
"And he even had a K'Hara symbiote...*his face turned into a very frowning one*"
He made a pause, then he looked into her eyes...
"When I was working for the Bretonian government, I was able to create a research division working for the Sunderland station in Newcastle. One day ... we went to Omicron Delta, to gather some rare artifacts near the Iota jumphole. My ship got on the cargo hold "something", because it was tagged as "Unknown Cargo" by my ship's computer. I stopped my ship and went to the cargo bay. As I approached the bay, I started to hear some odd noises. I unholstered my weapon, and went into the dark room. When I opened the lights, I almost made a heart attack. In front of me was a humanoid creature like... 1.8 meters height, purple in color, and with transparent skin and insides. I didn't had time to react because the "thing" hit me in the chest and I was throwed to the door. My weapon was lost. For a second I thought I will die... but something happened then. The creature said through telepathy, something, very vague... then it was clear, I remember each single word..
"Human, you are near a realm that your mind can't even conceive."
"What are you !"
"We are the vanguards of the great space-time dominators..."
Then I was thinking at a single word "Nomads ! ". I never saw one, they were a myth for me, until that day. One mistake he made, he read my mind, and remembered me of my dark past. And an interesting fact Ellie, is that, the creatures suggested me that my feelings for the one I loved, were futile, then.. he was already dead in my eyes.
"You suffer.... Dave, you have great suffer in you, It is burried deep within your consciousness limits. *then his eyes started to glow*. You are weak human, free your mind in front of me... Ahhh, and who is this humanoid female... Ashley ... you've lost her.. and you couldn't do nothing ! Because you are weak !"
"Stop it !" And I ran towards him but.. I hit some sort of ... invisible force field.
"You've discovered one of the guard systems between your realm and ours, and you paid the price for your selfish curiosity human ! Your knowledge sacrificed the one you loved human, we know about her, we've got her ! Let go to your mind and you can still save her ! She was a good thing to be processed and indoctrinated, she was very easy to corrupt !"
"This is enough ! " And I went screaming at him in an extraordinary fury. Somehow I passed his shield. I hit him in his chest with my right fist, then with my left one in his face... he was down on the floor and I had on my hands some purple viscosity. In a second he was back on his feet, and threw me against the wall. He tried to immbolize me and burn my brain with his telekinesis, but I hit his face with my forehead, then I jumped on him delivering tons of fists on his face. Jack arrived on my ship because he knew something went bad. He was amazed. I threw the creature on some boxes.. and Jack started to blast him. He jumped on the walls, hitting Jack's weapon. Then I took a nearby plasma torch and went to his torso and started to cut him very badly. The thing was screaming in pain, but again he hit me with his leg so hard, It almost broke my right arm... He tried to jump against me, then I hit him with my left leg and he was near the vacuum dispenser. I grabbed my weapon, and blasted his left leg, and right arm. He was immobilized.
"You know she is lost forever Dave ! Your love for her was futile, in vain !!
I grabbed his head and put it into the vacuum dispenser.
"NEVER ! "
I hit the button and slowly his head was sectioned. He was screaming to death. That was the first time I saw a nomad, his body was valuable, because I never saw one like him before..."
Dave stood silent, and then he looked to Ellie.
"Love is what defines us most, is the key to the everlasting peace in the Universe, and it gives us the power to make a difference, to take a decision. That's why we are special. I wished more individuals had the way to see things, like we do..."
He again patted her hand very gently, then said to Ellie on a relaxed and warm tone..
"How Jeremy survived ?"
