Coulton nodded, leading Elizabeth, and any others who accompanied, to the elevator. A member of the Leeds force remained behind, in case anyone turned up, or wished to meet back with the rest. When the doors opened again to what could've been a mental institution, white halls, perfectly clean floors, and metal doors lining the walls. Coulton walked down the hall, counting off the numbers in his head, until he reached one in particular. There was no noise from inside, and unlike the other cells, the lights in this one were off.
A figure was visible in the darkness, crouched in a corner and ignoring the seat and bedding in the room. Coulton opened the door, and the woman, if they could be called that, hissed angrily at the intrusion. Her skin was pale, and drawn...the long black hair, down to her shoulders, was matted and messed. The two wounds were present on her neck, and her eyes seemed to glow slightly in the dimness, as she pressed back against the wall. She seemed barely human, as she protested angrily: "The light! Put out the liiiiight!"
Coulton frowned. "This is the one, alright. She was found stumbling around and attacking people the other night. Brought in, and thats when we found the bites...No loss of blood though, it seems. Her appearance, though...we've identified her. Miss Alice Dane, twenty five. A visitor to Leeds. Libertonian, no diseases apparent...She went missing from some friends two days ago."
"Her symptoms are strange, we've not seen anything like it. Pale, cold skin, irregular heartbeat, insanity, and rapid weight loss. We've sent blood tests off, they'll probably turn up soon. Well, thats all we know...ah, I almost forgot."
Coulton took a flashlight off his belt. "Watch this..." He said, pointing the light at the woman's hand. The skin seemed to sizzle, what could almost be steam pouring off her skin. She shrieked, pulling her hand out of the light. "Violent photosensitivity...Have you ever heard of any of this, Officer? It seems almost surreal for me..."
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
