Guys, get your facts straight before you post some pseudo-knowledge.
Math will help you solve this riddle.
1) A Valor can deal 1.200.000 damage with a single forward barrage from three guns.
Thus, if Brimstone was out of repair materials/crew at the time of event, a 2h spectrum is absolutely possible. As the prior possible "bug-kill" with double-hits of weapons was fixed, this is the only explanation.
2) The shield is active for approx. 10 minutes after every attack. During 10 minutes, the base repairs itself for 2.400.000 hitpoints if the base is on core level 1 and only has a single type of repair material available.
Every additional core level or repair commodity causes the rate to multiply by that value.
This 10 minutes repair would require merely 60 units of repair materials. In case of a Valor barrage, only 30 units would be needed.
The lesson is simple: Keep your base stocked with repairs and fuel and you can laugh at any enemy. Run out of one of these supplies, and see your base turn into space dust.
That was clear from the very beginning and hasn't changed up to now, though the dynamics have changed a bit. A properly done full-blown siege now just increases repair consumption (a tiny bit).
Actually destroying a base still would require a lot of dedication of a large team of players to maintain a siege, making sure no resupply transport can sneak through, as well as dealing lots of damage to keep the repair crew occupied.
Having friends to call upon to help lift a siege on your base most definitely won't hurt as well. Which again strengthens the whole point of bases being intended as large group projects.
We are not playing "The Sims" here, so not everybody can just build his fancy home in space, keeping it forever invincible.
quod erat demonstrandum:
1)There is no basis in this to even discuss a possible requirement of a "nerf" of the Valor main cannon. It's a unique property of this ship, but there are plenty of other ways to hurt a base very much without any exploitive means. I am not going to spread them all out for you here, I helped you enough, actually.
2) It also means that the second restoration of the base was not justified, as no illicit means (exploits, bugs or similar) were used in the process of taking it down.
