' Wrote:Because moderators don't deal with forum rules?
We deal with the enforcement of rules. We are often partially involved in discussions regarding them, but we don't have a vote/voice in the rules that get added/removed.
The reasons we got new moderators, was because we had 3 active moderators, Zelot, Marburg, and myself, trying to moderate the entire forums. We had no hope of effectively moderating a forum that gets over a thousand posts daily. There were plenty of complaints concerning consistency. These complaints were valid, and the inconsistency was caused by the fact that our sparse number of moderators weren't enough to catch everything that was going on. Not even half. Several admins had to be involved in forum moderation/rule enforcement to cover the lack, and that isn't their job. Now that we have 7 active moderators, we can effectively cover the whole forums.
Pretty much it comes down to the fact that the few moderators we had were overworked, overstressed, and insufficient to get the job done fully. This step was taken to fix those problems, and so far has worked very well.
